I'd say they realized they accidentally waitlisted you, and hurried to correct their mistake.romanticegotist wrote:Thanks! I couldn't really understand him super well at times but it almost sounded like I cajoled him into admitting me right there over the phone haha. Anyway, if you got WL'd I would say follow up and really let them know you're interested because it may work in your favor!dykstaab wrote:Congrats!romanticegotist wrote:WHOA. Just got a call from the admissions office and I'm off the WL and accepted! There is hope for the sub-167s among us yet! Official info and scholly offer (fingers crossed) comes next week.

+1 the last couple of years the U has started throwing huge scholarships at WLers. They identify what #s they need to make their goals once the matriculations start coming in, and they throw tons of money at people to fill in the class.jing87 wrote:In today with full ride (non-residence). Was on waitlist for a few weeks, didn't visit or send the LOCI. So anyone is still on the waitlist, just hang in there, your good news is gonna coming very soon.
So, if you're on the waitlist, stay strong!

so jing, you weren't proactive at all for getting off the wait list? Also, how long ago did you find out you were put on the waitlist? Also, for the others who got off the waitlist, when were you guys initially waitlisted?

I submitted my application at 12/07 and got waitlisted at 12/20. I didn't do anything since then because I thought once you got waitlisted even finally got in you have to pay sticker...obviously I was wrong.Gene Parmesan wrote:so jing, you weren't proactive at all for getting off the wait list? Yes....this is such a misconception. If you're a splitter often times you're best offers will come from schools taking you off their waitlist b/c they need your number to reach a median. But if you're a typical candidate then year....sticker is likely.jing87 wrote:I submitted my application at 12/07 and got waitlisted at 12/20. FYI if you ask and say money is a concern- they will tell you over the phone. The guy who called me was cool as shit- ppl from Minnesota are awesome if anyway hasn't been there. Just as nice as the south without the racism and accent!Gene Parmesan wrote:In off the waitlist today as well, said scholly info will be in the mail!

That guy was super cool. I thought about asking him about scholarship money but didn't wanna sound tacky or something. Hopefully the letter comes soon.

If it was Nick Wallace, he really is pretty cool. I got a chance to chat with him for a bit last weekend and really got on well with him. Dan Cheng was also very friendly but I didn't get much time to talk with him.Xs20 wrote:That guy was super cool.
