Has your profile changed at all in the
Virtual VLS? I haven't sent in my app yet, but I remember there being a section in there that lets you know your status. Not sure if it's a full-fledged status tracker, but worth a try.
Hmm good point, my Virtual VLS still says: "Completed Date: N/A"
Yet the email definitely said complete... maybe it just means complete except for interview

I'd definitely email them for clarification. But that's just because I wouldn't trust myself to call first thing Monday morning.

2L here. Went to undergrad at another school in Nashville so I also know Nashville better than the average Vandy student. If anyone has any questions about Vandy or the city during your cycle, feel free to PM me. Good luck with your applications!

Shit! Sorry. I meant to do this sooner but the weekend etc.
Ok, the interview went for almost an hour and we seemed to have a nice rapport. As an international student plus someone who's undertaking a mid career change my questions were very much tailored to that. She asked me about the education system in T&T, I guess so she could have like a point of comparison. We talked about my job. She wanted to know why I was considering law school at this point considering that I seemed to have a strong career. We talked about the economy and how Vanderbilt will work with students in terms of financing the degree (lol). We talked a lot about student culture at Vandy as well as the academic culture and the quality of professors.
I would say overall that it was really relaxed and not all that taxing. But then again that could be my totally erroneous assessment of the situation.

Hey everybody, had my interview today and thought I'd let you know what it was like.
I met an alumnus (C/O 2012) at a little cafe near his office and we chatted for about 1/2 an hour. He gave me a bit of background on him, then asked me to give him a 60-second synopsis of me. Then he asked a couple questions about interests. After a couple questions, he asked if I had any questions about Vanderbilt, and I had a few prepared. He did a great job selling Vanderbilt and we had a really good talk. He was very easy-going. At the end, he invited me to keep in contact with him via email with any questions I might have later and to be sure to let him know the outcome of my applications.
So don't sweat it if you've still got yours coming up. If it's anything like mine, it'll just be a nice chat with a nice person about a nice school

Opinions on whether I should opt for an alumni interview or head to Vandy? (its only about a 4 hour drive)

Go. I would have totally taken that option if I could have gotten off work.

Calling to schedule tomorrow and then reporting back. I wonder how they handle interviews of prospective students that they know are auto-dings

What did you bros wear at the interview? Mine is an alumni interview at a big law firm, guess this means I have to wear a suit and tie, no? Dockers and shirt and tie won't cut it?
Thriller, I remember you from the June waiting thread, are you retaking on Saturday?

My interviewer specifically said not to dress up, so I went straight from work (I work in a law office) in my slacks, dress shirt, and tie. He had taken off his coat and tie before leaving his office.

Unfortunately no, this semester is tons of work and I really wasn't devoting the time I needed to in order to improve so I am applying this cycle and if it doesn't go well I will find work for a year and retake (as I am very serious about a retake, just want to do it right giving it all I got).
Are you retaking?

That should be fine. Anything that's better than jeans and a t-shirt should really be ok. I had an interview with a biglaw alum and he couldn't have cared less what I wore. Just like what everyone else says, the interviews are really more about them selling Vandy to you, than you selling yourself to Vandy.
The interviews are probably a tool to help their yield more than anything

If this is the case, should I spend a day driving if I pretty much know I will get auto-dinged?

I don't see how anyone else could answer that for you... Is a visit to Vanderbilt worth the gas money and whatever you are missing to do it?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
