"Should I?"

"If you have the money or a fee waiver, why not?"

I applied because of peer pressure. Well, not really a peer. The law advisor at my undergrad took a look at my stats and then at my list of schools I was planning to apply to (all T-14s) and said I should apply to Vanderbilt, USC, and Emory. I really should not have listened to him/her. It ended up being a total waste of money because I hate all 3 schools and knew it going in. I ended up withdrawing from all 3 pretty quickly. I guess he/she just scared me into thinking I didn't have better prospects. Kinda makes me feel like a total douche because a lot of people love those schools and they're like, well, why did you even apply if you're not impressed?

Compared to most of the terrible advice UG advisors give out, you got lucky.

Law advisors are paid to be conservative, so they always recommend to pick a few safeties. You can run you chances on LSP, but a besides Emory, I don't think your advisor was that far off base. Plus, Vandy and Emory are rather generous, and you might be able to negotiate upwards from there.

OTOH, if they are 3 schools that you definitely would not have attended, then it was a waste of money/time.

I'm a really nice person until people prove that they can handle friendly banter. Consider yourselves honored.

Hey Vanderbilt bros,

If you find my posts insightful and interesting, please go here:

And vote for Natalie Portman! She needs our help. If you aren't going to vote for her then don't vote at all.

Not that I wouldn't rail the both of them, but Nina Dobrev is objectively more attractive.

Really, a #1 seed for J-Law? I get that she's an awesome actress and all that, but in a hotness poll? Really?

Totally agree. She's one of those actresses that people put on a pedestal because she's famous and talented and looks cute when done up by professional stylists and whatnot, but without all that I think she would just look like your average run-of-the-mill dirtbag. I'm not saying she's ugly but pretty much ANY average looking girl could look at least that hot when Hollywood-ified.

I think we're going for the intangibles here too, ie. her interviews.

I agree. She's on a pedestal because she's an amazing actress but also because she's the kind of girl that other girls find beautiful and *want* men to find beautiful (as in not your fake, plastic type). I would much rather a natural looking, curvy lady win this hotness contest even though every option is insanely gorgeous.

Side note: I'm also writing this as a check-in. I was accepted back in December (splitter) and after my (small but biggest of my options) scholly offer a few weeks ago, I have decided to go to the April ASP. The ranking move up was cool but do you guys think that means anything beyond (possibly temporary) bragging rights?

It does not. You get a decision mailed date but until then you wait without knowledge of the progress of your app.

It's in the VLS website log in rather than through LSAC. The status checker app doesn't work for Vandy.

Will they update our financial aid award once they receive the FAFSA/NeedAccess or is the original offer the only one?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
