in business (atleast finance), oxford commas are rarely used... so i didn't use them in my writing for LS out of habit.

Just pointing out that the semicolon should be used in that sentence ....

Yeah in journalism all the stylebooks say to avoid it, but it's just always felt necessary for me, at least in how I want my sentences to be read.

Wow, I never knew this was such a contentious topic! I love my Oxford commas, so...hope it's not a deal breaker.

This just points out that both versions are ambiguous. Maybe "jfk" is a stripper crew (could be an acronym for their names). Anyone paying attention to his prose would've written "we invited JFK, Stalin and the strippers."

(also, I lol'd)

then you should head over to the In At Harvard thread:
Stinson wrote:Congrats to all the admits from a 3L, and I wanted to share my favorite March ASW moment:

Scene: Getting awesome free food at HLS ASW.
Me to girlfriend: "What does that little card next to the soft pretzels say?"
Girlfriend: "It says 'whole grain mustard.'"
Me: (Feigning surprise.) "Oh my, whole grain!"
Old lady from admissions in fancy dress: "My dears, this is Harvard University! We aren't savages."

Btw, loving it three years later.

Asha is stalking this site and holding all the apps from applicants whom she can match to a TLS profile.

according to last year's thread, early rejections are done by mail (e-mail if international). and in april, basically all rejections were done by e-mail. people on the waitlist also hear back in april by e-mail. so basically, PRAY FOR AN EMPTY MAILBOX NEXT WEEK.

I really would prefer an email rejection. No need to have tangible proof of my inadequacy, nor waste resources in the process.

My campus is shutdown, so no mail for me. Anyone from CT here? I'm sure you'll here first if letters went out yesterday.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
