Awww... thanks for the input, guys. It helps to balance out the insane amount of "OMG YOU HAVE TO GO TO YLS" that exists on TLS and beyond that I've been getting in the past few weeks.

That is my biggest concern about YLS, yeah... no one wants to be that graduate who hangs around near the UG campus after graduation!
I think that going to Yale, then Harvard, rather than Yale, Yale, is far better. Intellectual diversity is an important value, and a genuine market plus. It shows that you can operate at a high level in markedly different environments.
I still say Palo Alto weather and outdoors activities > all.

How much better will you do as a 1L when you get to rock climb, snow board, and surf--all in the same day?

I guess it's hard for you non-Cali natives to understand. :)

Course some California natives might needle you by suggesting all of that stuff can be done better in SoCal.

Yeah but then you have to deal with the people that live in SoCal

QFT, for sure. SoCal is definitely better for activities. But the people are TTT.

I lived 9 years in SoCal and 12 years (non-consecutive) in NorCal and I really don't know where this "people from LA are assholes" thing comes from. Pretty much everyone I know from LA is chill and at least they don't say hella.

Also, jselson's "going from Yale to Harvard shows you can achieve in markedly different environments" was 180.

Woo! The only thing more cool than knowing someone who got accepted into Yale is knowing someone who got accepted into Yale and declined it. (They're a rare breed.)

But honestly though completely agree with comments above regarding changing the scenary from UG

LOL when I read "going from Yale to Harvard shows you can achieve in markedly different environments", I immediately thought of Bush calling Dukakis bred via a "Harvard Yard boutique" and the newspapers calling Bush "a kettle calling the pot elitist"

are the two REALLY markedly different? especially after you graduate and are comparing achievements?

Definitely submitted way after Thanksgiving, but I'm still counting myself in limbo.

I posted this in the In at Harvard thread but didn't get any bites - is anyone going to Harvard's ASW who might be interested in a day trip on Friday from Boston to New Haven?
My flight won't arrive in time for an official tour, but I'm considering renting a car and doing the self-guided thing. If anyone would like to carpool and split costs and stalk carboncopy, that would be awesome.
