waitlisted via email, just withdrew. No way I'm staying on that waitlist to end up having to pay sticker. Good luck to all

You know when you get the ominous "...Law Application Decision" on your subject lines it's not good news. Unlike the huge CONGRATULATIONS headline, sigh.zestylemon wrote:Just got the waitlist as well, figure I might as well stay on it.

I used to think so until I got "Cornell Law School Application Decision" and my heart plummeted, but turns out I'd been accepted.Well_he_did_not wrote:zestylemon wrote:Just got the waitlist as well, figure I might as well stay on it.

Agreed, it could have been a 'your decision has been rendered' sort of thingtalesofyore wrote:I used to think so until I got "Cornell Law School Application Decision" and my heart plummeted, but turns out I'd been accepted.Well_he_did_not wrote:zestylemon wrote:Just got the waitlist as well, figure I might as well stay on it.

Re: BU 2012-2013 Applicants
Waitlisted today via email.
Reach for me so its alright. Any tips regarding LOCI? When to begin sending them in, etc?
Also noticed on their Waitlist FAQ's it says to let them know if BU is your number one choice. So far its not, have a few other apps outstanding; from my admitted schools yes it is my number one choice. Don't want to say its my number one, get in and then have my top choice admit me. Anybody know if saying BU is your top school makes your decision mandatory to attend or no?
Thanks

Re: BU 2012-2013 Applicants
From what I understand, the only thing binding is the early decision agreement. I think some would find this just morally wrong however. It could also hurt you with scholarship negotiation, but I don't think they can make you attend.Stillwaiting6192 wrote:Waitlisted today via email.

Re: BU 2012-2013 Applicants
Of course not. Most times the only thing that is binding is early decision, but nowadays even few of those are. They just want to hear that BU is "your dream" so that if they give you one of their valued reserve spots you dont take it for granted and peace out. But honestly, I think theyre stupid for outright saying "let us know if were your first choice", as if they expect people to say "nah, i applied, but i dont really want to go, can you guys let me in anyways please".. what are your stats. just curious since I applied to BU as well. PM me if you want to keep it personal.

Re: BU 2012-2013 Applicants
It wouldn't be binding, but you should only say that if they are your clear-cut number one choice. Even then, you probably would not want to say it because, as someone else mentioned, it could impact any potential scholarship they offer you.Stillwaiting6192 wrote:Waitlisted today via email.

Re: BU 2012-2013 Applicants
yeah but it sounds like hes not worried about getting a scholarship...hes worried about getting in. Lets be honest, if you get waitlisted anywhere then if they let you in- youre going to pay sticker. Honestly, you expect him to get in off the WL and then negotiate for a scholarship? No. Not happening. Tell them theyre your number 1 and your dream since you were a kid...step 1- get in, step 2-100000- negotiate.

Well both BU and BC offered small amounts of money off the WL last year according to LSN. And UMN has been doing the same as well.TheNextAmendment wrote:yeah but it sounds like hes not worried about getting a scholarship...hes worried about getting in. I think it's worth noting that this week UMN (apparently) awarded a full scholly to somebody off of the waitlist.TheNextAmendment wrote:exactly.."small amount"...aka shit-money for people who really just want to get in. I rest my case.

Not really. If they really thought they were your number 1 choice, there'd be little incentive to give you money. And plenty of people get money off the waitlist.TheNextAmendment wrote:yeah but it sounds like hes not worried about getting a scholarship...hes worried about getting in. I think its worth noting that this week Harvard (apparently) gave a full tuition to a 154/4.0. Don't believe everything you read, thats how Democrats are born.Greyhound42 wrote:I think it's worth noting that this week UMN (apparently) awarded a full scholly to somebody off of the waitlist.TheNextAmendment wrote:exactly.."small amount"...aka shit-money for people who really just want to get in. I didn't say it was beyond-a-doubt true, I was just relating what I'd read on that thread from a user who posts regularly and seems like she has no reason to lie... thought it was pertinent to the conversation. Chill.

Christ...quit it with the Bush stuff....URM nowadays get into T14 schools with nearly the same numbers- just a higher LSAT. Which seems more fair? Letting a kid into a T14 because his dad is a political giant, or letting someone into a T14 because of the color of their skin? Just trying to make a point =}dproduct wrote:Is there another Bush we didn't know about?TheNextAmendment wrote:I think its worth noting that this week Harvard (apparently) gave a full tuition to a 154/4.0. A little inquisitive, no? I think that post was meant to just be snarky.
