Even the thought of Fig Newton-flavored beer makes me want to gag... I could see Molasses cookie-flavored beer, though. I'm not sure I would prefer it to other beers (in fact, I'm pretty certain I wouldn't), but I might not vomit after tasting it.uconjak wrote:Depends, does it taste like Oreos or Fig Newtons?mrizza wrote:sounds pretty good (LinkRemoved)cookiejar1 wrote:It sounds so atrociously disgusting. I think the 4/2 indicated you have to fill out that response form by that date. And then it says something about reevaluating all hold candidates beginning in April.jdmonkey wrote:Anybody else had their application held til 4/2?

I read the 2011 thread a few days ago and they started hearing back near the end of April, but I don't know what their decision letter said exactly. I'm pretty sure all ours say that they'll start reevaluating at the beginning of April, so they may start getting back to us earlier hopefully. I think since the deposit deadline is April 30th(?), it would make sense that they'd have a more accurate count of how many to accept/WL at that point, right?DaRascal wrote:When do you guys think Held people will hear back? Go apply for financial aid so that you can live in a house that looks like a factory. Don't worry, the weather is nice there.BigZuck wrote:Solistus wrote:Wut.tweetsbyjohann wrote:http://pic.twitter.com/DP6BWygAYQ

Is anyone else worried that FinAid could be correlated with ASW? I've already been to NU and liked it a ton, and I think I conveyed that to admissions. But NU seems to be putting a lot of little eggs into this ASW basket. Probably me just being paranoid, but wondering what you all think!

Clearly this is just a material manifestation of Johann's subconscious desire to give all us financial applicants the big ol' bird.Solistus wrote:Wut.tweetsbyjohann wrote:http://pic.twitter.com/DP6BWygAYQ
Just look how that elongated chimney harshly perforates the otherwise smooth, peaceful, and tranquil roofline. With the sun beating down on what we wish to be a beautiful building we, the captivated yet hopeless financial aid applicants, are rather met with the startling realization that what is smooth, peaceful and tranquil need not apply to us. No. Instead of harmony we are met with discord. The towering chimney is forced upon us... it is the harsh yet true middle finger of reality. The three wretched windows is a mere a symbol of our continued efforts to peer inside the the bleak factory that is law school: our primary school, high school, and college educations all setting us up for our grand entrance... but no. The door. Frighteningly shut. Closed. Never to open. Only to look at. Attached to a building. A building that flicks us off.

My vote is that you're paranoid, because I also haven't gotten FinAid and can't make ASW.dsn32 wrote:Is anyone else worried that FinAid could be correlated with ASW? LOL, that's exactly my point though. NU seems to be heading to a much more personal route with applicants and students. With the decreases in class size and such, they are definitely going to be much more careful in how many people they allocate funds to. Getting that in-person opportunity might be a factor in a decreasing class. The longer this drags out, the more nervous I'll be, but logically it would makes sense that they are going to give more money to fewer applicants and be careful who they give it to.Bloomsie wrote:My vote is that you're paranoid, because I also haven't gotten FinAid and can't make ASW.dsn32 wrote:Is anyone else worried that FinAid could be correlated with ASW? It really does sort of look like a hand flipping the bird! The chimney is obviously the middle finger, but note that their are two windows on one side with one one on the other. This is just like the pink and ring finger on one side of the middle finger and the index finger alone on the other. The door could even be viewed as a thumb tucked into the palm.
In an attempt to give it a more positive spin, I will venture a guess that it is meant to imply further financial aid decisions this afternoon. The screen in the background references financial aid and the sun is not directly above, implying noon, but a little to the side, thus the belief it references this afternoon. Good luck everyone!

the only finaid thats gone out as far as I know are the $150,000 scholarships, which are naturally restrictive. the rest will come -- lets all chill!Bloomsie wrote:My vote is that you're paranoid, because I also haven't gotten FinAid and can't make ASW.dsn32 wrote:Is anyone else worried that FinAid could be correlated with ASW? i'm attending ASW but have received no finaid yet. staying with a current student, they definitely know i'm coming.
fwiw i worked really hard on those essays, but I think they think I'm a flight risk anyway so maybe they're delaying. IDK. you can PM me for my thoughts but now that Johann is on the boards (hey dude! seriously considering getting twitter just so I can tweet at ya) I would prefer to stay anonymous-ish (LOL).

i don't think it means anything. i think it's johann playing with us, for his entertainment. he's good at it, or rather, most of us suck at resisting it.
