I'm thinking they might have got them out early because of the earlier deposit requirement, which also makes me think they're planning on recycling these full rides that aren't accepted

If someone turns down the offer (which from the looks of this thread won't be many TLS'ers), I'm betting the money will be recycled but not in $150K forms, more through smaller scholarships. Why would they give a student a full ride when they would still come with half or 2/3?

Well I'm sure they'd only offer them to people that didn't look like they were going to pay the deposit. Either one would make sense though. Mostly wanted to point out it is very positive that they seem to be taking steps to make sure they give out all the scholly $ they have allotted.

True. They are also being pretty intelligent about it. Another poster mentioned the Ruby, Hamilton, Levy, ect. as alternatives. I think NU did a pretty decent job so far of awarding the scholarships to people who would legitimately take them -- from what I could tell, their numbers were good (above 75ths) but not at HYS/hammy/ruby lock level.

I'm pretty sure the only reason why I got into NU before the new year + got money is because Johann and Jill stalk this thread, knew who I was, and somehow inexplicablyfound my obsessive love for Northwestern endearing or something instead of creepy.

lol nice. Yeah, I don't mind. It's likely possible for an adcom to discern my identity if they really tried, though I'm not sure how much they'd care to do so. At this point it seems like 99% certain I'll be at Northwestern next year anyway, so there's really nothing for them to bother with in regard to me. I'm gonna be going to the ASW now, so maybe I'll see some of you there.

Go to SoCal and never look back. Chicago weather is good for all of maybe 3 months at best.

Does anybody know when they started reviewing candidates on hold last year? The decision letter says early april but might there be a chance of us knowing by the end of this month? I submitted a LOCI and both optional essays this morning (which took FOREVER to write--really hope they like them) soo I guess theres not much else I can do at this point. Sigh, northwestern would be such a dream come true.

I've been lurking in this thread for a bit. NU is my first choice too but I haven't heard back from them yet. There is a big probability my decision is coming next Tuesday, which is my birthday. So, if they release it then, I'll get the BEST birthday present ever or it won't be as much fun as it could have been.
