True. They are also being pretty intelligent about it. Another poster mentioned the Ruby, Hamilton, Levy, ect. as alternatives. I think NU did a pretty decent job so far of awarding the scholarships to people who would legitimately take them -- from what I could tell, their numbers were good (above 75ths) but not at HYS/hammy/ruby lock level.mrizza wrote:Well I'm sure they'd only offer them to people that didn't look like they were going to pay the deposit. Either one would make sense though. Mostly wanted to point out it is very positive that they seem to be taking steps to make sure they give out all the scholly $ they have allotted.jbagelboy wrote:If someone turns down the offer (which from the looks of this thread won't be many TLS'ers), I'm betting the money will be recycled but not in $150K forms, more through smaller scholarships. Why would they give a student a full ride when they would still come with half or 2/3?mrizza wrote: I'm thinking they might have got them out early because of the earlier deposit requirement, which also makes me think they're planning on recycling these full rides that aren't accepted

Is it unreasonably paranoid to look into the fact that Johann just said "don't hate the player, hate the game", when I posted that about the adcoms ITT yesterday wednesday? ...

I can say with almost complete certainty that they view this thread (pm if you want to know why). I can say with somewhat certainty that they know who I am and likely any of us with identifying details in our profile.mrizza wrote:Is it unreasonably paranoid to look into the fact that Johann just said "don't hate the player, hate the game", when I posted that about the adcoms ITTyesterdaywednesday? ...

And for the record I LOVE NORTHWESTERN OMG LOL BFF.
But seriously I do. And would like money if your infinite wisdom sees it fit.

I'm pretty sure the only reason why I got into NU before the new year + got money is because Johann and Jill stalk this thread, knew who I was, and somehow inexplicablyfound my obsessive love for Northwestern endearing or something instead of creepy.
There are also things that have happened during the year this year that have confirmed this suspicion. So everyone be nice ITT

lol nice. Yeah, I don't mind. It's likely possible for an adcom to discern my identity if they really tried, though I'm not sure how much they'd care to do so. At this point it seems like 99% certain I'll be at Northwestern next year anyway, so there's really nothing for them to bother with in regard to me. I'm gonna be going to the ASW now, so maybe I'll see some of you there.Micdiddy wrote:Johann just twit-pic us so we can know for sure you're there watching over.

My username is my e-mail address. Wasn't really thinking too much about anonymity when I signed up, plus I'm mad unoriginal. WHOOPS.

You think you're unoriginal? I've been using the same username for every site online since the 9th grade. I don't even like it anymore, it's just impulse to type it in everywhere I register.HankBashir wrote:My username is my e-mail address. Does anybody know when they started reviewing candidates on hold last year? The decision letter says early april but might there be a chance of us knowing by the end of this month? I submitted a LOCI and both optional essays this morning (which took FOREVER to write--really hope they like them) soo I guess theres not much else I can do at this point. Sigh, northwestern would be such a dream come true.

Is Johann's twitter background a hint of acceptable gifts (read: bribes) that he'll gladly accept? Someone help identify what that Marion Brando record / movie / whatever is. I WANNA RELATE.

Hi guys and gals,
I've been lurking in this thread for a bit. NU is my first choice too but I haven't heard back from them yet. There is a big probability my decision is coming next Tuesday, which is my birthday. So, if they release it then, I'll get the BEST birthday present ever or it won't be as much fun as it could have been. I know this surely ID's me in case they watch this thread, but just I'm kinda hoping fro a birthday miracle at this point... Show me some birthday love Johann! Cheers.

Lol @ this thread becoming a venue for people to communicate/plead with NU adcoms.
On a completely unrelated note: Johann, if you give me 120K+ I will attend.

Way to take one for the team, Zuck.On a completely unrelated note: Johann, if you give me 120K+ I will attend.
But to be honest, I'm guessing all the 120's are done. They got 'em out early for a reason.
