The only part in the blog is that she supports LOCIs (when there's something to say) if you submitted early in the cycle and are still URmambar wrote:So sorry if this is obvious and I'm missing it, but where in the blog do you see this?ManOfTheMinute wrote:Her blog makes it sound like you should. Maybe not. Meh.

Re: Stanford C/O 2016 Applicants Thread
I went ahead and sent a LOCI after reading the blog post. Didn't have anything new to add- just mentioned last semester's grades and how Stanford is my top choice. Complete since 9/18, figured it couldn't hurt so we'll see what happens...

Re: Stanford C/O 2016 Applicants Thread
Complete early October and nothing so far (just checked status checker).
For someone who is a year removed from school, and doing the same job and extracurriculars as I was when I applied four months ago, is there any point in sending in an loci? All I could think is a quick two sentences stating roughly that if I am accepted then I will attend, and anything more would be more or less superfluous bs.
Thanks for all the future help & suggestions.

if you are able to make thoughtful connections between the stuff you are doing now and some programs offered by stanford -- and if you haven't already explained those connections in your original application -- you should write a LOCI based on that.bobr wrote:Complete early October and nothing so far (just checked status checker).

Submitted for review 11/18. Thanks to MOTM's post, I'm seriously conflicted about whether or not I should be sending a LOCI now: what's the consensus? Send now, ask questions later?

Every night I go to bed wondering, "Is tomorrow the day I will get into Stanford?"
Then I check the status checker and discover the answer is no.

Maybe a bunch of medicore and pointless LOCIs will make the non-LOCI bunch look like cool calm bros in contrast?mambar wrote:I wonder if it will look fishy that a bunch of them start pouring in hahadigifly wrote:Submitted for review 11/18. No November applicants have been rejected yet, so you don't know if you're a soft hold or not. Unless you have something INCREDIBLE to add, I'd wait. I submitted a LOCI last month but that's only because I thought my new softs would make a big difference to my application.digifly wrote:Submitted for review 11/18. Would getting a promotion at work be a big difference soft? It's not that big of a promotion either, I just went from sales associate to sales lead in three months since starting my first job.ssanonymous wrote:No November applicants have been rejected yet, so you don't know if you're a soft hold or not. The high school mock trial team I'm coaching is also on their way to quarter and hopefully semi-finals, although I'm not sure how comfortable I'd feel saying that I'm making a difference in the team's success because it's the students that are competing and not me.
Previously I was wondering if a LOCI talking about how I can contribute back to the school because of my history of contributing back to the community would work. I'm a November app.
