I submitted two new LORs since being held, which probably won't make a *huge* difference, but can't hurt, right?

My status didnt update nor did I recieve an email till Monday and I got the call on a Friday. I was hoping all weekend I didnt imagine things too hahatimeandspace11 wrote:When you all received the phone call was your status updated? Mine still just says complete and I have not received an email yet either. I saved the voicemail just so I know i wasnt imagining things.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. I dont know if UT considers GW and ND peer schools but if they still may be able to be persuaded. Congrats on that scholarship package so far. From your profile I saw we have the same LSAT while you have a little bit higher GPA. If I could get a similar deal I would go to UT in a second. Good luck!!kaf5250 wrote:Looking for a little advice. I got in earlier in the cycle with in-state tuition + $12,000 in my aid packet which is pretty appealing. However, I got similar offers from other schools (GW, Notre Dame) which are much much closer to home for me (i'm from PA), any idea if I could use those offers to negotiate a higher amount or how receptive Texas is to negotiating at all. I'm hoping to get a little more aid just because the cost of flying/relocating would be so much higher than at closer schools. any advice on what to do?
do you think I should wait to hear back from some other schools (still waiting on Mich, Cornell, and USC) or do you think if I try now and they say no I can ask again with more offers and they might change their mind?timeandspace11 wrote:Certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. Not sure why I am thinking this and could totally be wrong but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that UT will negotiate but they will only do it once, meaning they want you to present all of or just your best offers at once. Might be thinking about another school though.kaf5250 wrote:do you think I should wait to hear back from some other schools (still waiting on Mich, Cornell, and USC) or do you think if I try now and they say no I can ask again with more offers and they might change their mind?timeandspace11 wrote:Certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. That is a good question, and I am not sure about the answer. I would maybe try and look for a thread with Texas students to see what the best course may be. If you expect to hear from those schools soon maybe holding off a bit would be good. A lot of it depends on how bad you want to go to Texas and what other offers you think you can get from other schools.kaf5250 wrote:do you think I should wait to hear back from some other schools (still waiting on Mich, Cornell, and USC) or do you think if I try now and they say no I can ask again with more offers and they might change their mind?timeandspace11 wrote:Certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. I remember reading that Michigan does this. I don't know about Texas.BigZuck wrote:Not sure why I am thinking this and could totally be wrong but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that UT will negotiate but they will only do it once, meaning they want you to present all of or just your best offers at once. I wonder if Texas looks at University of Minnesota as a peer schoolBigZuck wrote:I do think waiting would be best as I doubt UT views ND as a peer but I'm guessing it views USC as one.
plus USC... Wash U would be a stretch.aep1989 wrote:So you guys think Vandy + UCLA + Top 14, UT would negotiate with?

Calm down guys... This is pretty much how long it's taken all cycle for people to get their status checkers. I submitted on 1/9 and don't have one either.Ned Racine wrote:+1nba101790 wrote:Submitted and received on 1/15, no correspondence since. Sent on 1/8, received on 1/10, but no correspondence since the email on 1/10. Where's my status checker?

michaelm55 wrote:"Financial Aid Matching Program
The University of Texas School of Law offers a limited scholarship matching program for admitted students. Through this program, the scholarship committee will review merit scholarship offers exclusively from peer law schools upon request.
The committee will consider the out-of-pocket tuition and fees expense a student will incur after taking the respective scholarship offer(s) into consideration, and overall competitiveness of the admitted student. The scholarship committee reserves the right to decline to offer or increase our previous scholarship.
The scholarship committee will consider one matching scholarship request per admitted student. However, an admitted student may submit multiple offers at one time. Once the committee has made a decision, students will be notified in writing.
Matching requests may be submitted by mail, e-mail or fax to:
