Looking at others in this thread, appears most people got their scholarship info a little over a week after getting the call. So not too much longer of a wait!I, Lawyer wrote:How long does it take for scholarship info to arrive? I haven't been waiting too long but was bummed when I opened a letter from UT today that just had some friendly greetings.

Re: University of TEXAS c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Perhaps this is not the correct thread to bring the issue up, but I have a question. I was an ED applicant, then they "held" me for regular decision back in November. Not a peep since then. Would it be in my best interest to write a letter of continued interest, or should I refrain given the fact that I have not officially been waitlisted or deferred? Should I act now (as a borderline applicant), or wait for them to make a decision first?
I value your input. What do my fellow TLS bretheren suggest? And Oh, congradulations to the recent admits! I am happy for you all!

I wouldn't write a LOCI at this point. Honestly I don't think it would make a difference and would just be a waste of time. I would only consider it if they said in the hold email that they welcome more materials, essays, etc. But I would wait on the LOCI for a waitlist if that happens.michaelm55 wrote:Perhaps this is not the correct thread to bring the issue up, but I have a question. As usual, bigzuck, thank you for your advice. I will wait for their decision.

Re: University of TEXAS c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I have a quick question (hope this is an appropriate place):
I applied early but was "held." My LSAT was only 162 (3.92 GPA), but I am retaking the LSAT February 9, and, if my practice tests are any indication (and they were last time), my score will go up to anywhere from 165-167.
Here's the question: I would hate for them to reject me based on my 162, if my score does in fact go up. Do you think they held me specifically BECAUSE I signed up to take the February LSAT? Or do you think I should request that they not make a final decision until after February 9? They "held" my application right after I applied for the February LSAT, so I assume that's why they did... but we all know what assuming does!

Re: University of TEXAS c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
So, during my acceptance call, I was told to look for something from the financial aid office in 7-10 days (I think; the word scholarship wasn't specifically mentioned). Today, 9 days later, I received the "why choose UT" letter.
Maybe I am paranoid, but I worry that this is somehow in lieu of a scholarship offer. Did any of you scholarship recipients receive this letter as well? If so, did it come first, followed by the offer? Or were they together?
Best wishes,
The Overanalyst

Was sent both, scholarship offer came first ( about 10 days after acceptance) then I got this letter like 3 weeks later.Philosophizer wrote:So, during my acceptance call, I was told to look for something from the financial aid office in 7-10 days (I think; the word scholarship wasn't specifically mentioned). Thanks, Zuck. Followup: was everyone told to look for something from FA, or is that code for scholarship? Please let it be the latter.BigZuck wrote:Was sent both, scholarship offer came first ( about 10 days after acceptance) then I got this letter like 3 weeks later.Philosophizer wrote:So, during my acceptance call, I was told to look for something from the financial aid office in 7-10 days (I think; the word scholarship wasn't specifically mentioned). I missed my call and it went to VM so no mention of anything coming later. Guessing its code for scholarship.Philosophizer wrote:Thanks, Zuck. This is the scoop I hear from UT: IF you have at least a 168 and a GPA over 3.65ish, you will be eligible about $12K in merit scholarship. The scale goes up from there .. mostly based on LSAT.Philosophizer wrote:So, during my acceptance call, I was told to look for something from the financial aid office in 7-10 days (I think; the word scholarship wasn't specifically mentioned). Re: University of TEXAS c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Hey, I'm a current 1L. They didn't do the "why choose UT" thing for me (or anyone else, IIRC) last year, so I'm guessing it is a new thing. I doubt it will be TOO big of a deal unless you haven't been accepted yet.
Anyways, feel free to PM me with any questions. Someone in my section was kind enough to let me know that they figured out who I was, so I would prefer to keep things to PMs.
I can also talk about my #s and scholarship info via PM if people are interested.

I am in state and was held over for ED and have not heard anything.
My LSAT is at there 25% but GPA well over 75%. I have not heard anything since I was held over months ago.
UT love me please. Anyone out there want to give me some hope?

If you do not mind, can you tell us what are your stats? And, did you get the "held" e-mail in the end of November?

got an acceptance email late last night. status checker says admitted 1/17. Anyone know how long it takes them to send packets, or do they usually mention scholarships in the email?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
