Great work. Hard to believe that only 47% of Yale acceptances get into Stanford I wonder why that is

This preeeeetty much amounts to a perfect emotional/mental boost, I'm gonna take your approach and just run with it. Thank you!!Wormfather wrote:Relax, the line between being good enough for a JS1 and being good enough for a JS2 is thin. If they didn think you were JS2 worthy, they wouldnt have given you the JS1.
Super super helpful, thank you! If you don't mind sharing, what would you consider to be a "really excellent question" that nails the the query-driven demonstration of an understanding of law school in general? Unless it's so obvious that I'm going to slap myself after you answer, in which case, just pre-empt and do it for me.Yukos wrote:I had a 12-day gap between my JS1 and JS2 (and a wave of JS2s in between) so none of the January JS1s should lose hope yet.
I know this goes without saying but prepare really excellent questions. I feel like with JS her questions to you are so easy -- as long as you know your own resume/life story -- that one place you can really stand out is having questions that show you have an understanding of law school AND Harvard Law.cloudatlas wrote:Something of a lurker succumbing to TLS seductiveness.
Checking in. Complete 12/13. JS1 tomorrow.

While I wait for dem thunderbolts.... any last ditch interview gimlets of wisdom to share? I've combed the thread and appreciated all the insight. Panic feeds the need for any further tidbits any of you experienced chaps have to offer.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
In regards to preparing really excellent questions that show how much you know about HLS, I actually took the opposite approach. I didn't ask questions that at all showed I had any intense knowledge of HLS, but questions I was genuinely interested in knowing the answer to. The interview is the only chance I had to learn more about HLS besides things I could find online (classes, clinics, professors, etc). So I focused on intangible aspects of HLS. JS was there as a student and now an employee, and she has so many experiences there. Who better to talk about the student body or share a favorite memory. So take it as an opportunity to learn from her instead of impress her. The questions are the only part of the interview you control so show your personality. Anyways, thats Just my two cents. (Kinda long, maybe a nickel)

Wow, thanks for that! I'd be quite all right being any one of them, really, but it'd be interesting to see which school steals from the other school. Maybe if I get bored this weekend, I'll try to figure it out.vzapana wrote:data dump, using LSN figures from three application cycles (2009-2012):

It seems that I didn't get auto-admitted at berkeley, but rather I'll have to go to faculty review for a chance... think its still possible to get into harvard given this, or is my app a POS?

Not to be a dick, but I fail to see how those are related at all. Berkeley is just weird. And I have no clue about your app, having never seen it, but if you weren't outright dinged, it can't be that bad.ManOfTheMinute wrote:It seems that I didn't get auto-admitted at berkeley, but rather I'll have to go to faculty review for a chance... think its still possible to get into harvard given this, or is my app a POS?

Ugh. Just finished JS1 with KB - she was lovely. I was not.
Blah at best, really didn't feel like I added anything they didn't already know except to further emphasize my manic research of Harvard's program and faculty.
Aaaaand the wait to receive a hold commences...
EDIT: Hold or flat-out ding, let's be real.

People have been sent to faculty review and still gotten into Stanford and Harvard this cycle. Don't worry about it.shntn wrote:Not to be a dick, but I fail to see how those are related at all. Checking in. 4.04/172 non-traditional student (30+, married with kids). Harvard feels like a long shot, but I couldn't forgive myself for not trying. Does anyone else feel silly when you're discussing law school with people and mention Harvard when asked where you are applying?
