Waitlisted at around 4pm today. I'm staying flexible for Cornell. I'm sure some people will get dinged as this has been Cornell's practice in previous years. This waitlist is mostly about hoping that some people withdraw, defer, or somehow don't show up for orientation.

Tuition payment deadline is 8/7 so a few spots may open up following that datechraruce wrote:Waitlisted at around 4pm today. I'm staying flexible for Cornell. I received the waitlist email this afternoon. Was anyone dinged? And the email didn't mention interviews, wonder if they're not being offered cause of the late date.

I haven't been on TLS in months, but the Reserves to Waiting List move has brought me out of my hiatus.
Who's thinking of attending if admitted? I most likely would, but the logistics of moving from CA to NY with a week (or less) notice is concerning...

Someone withdrew today and posted it in the class forum so it sounds like there's still hope even if you're on the WL

Has anyone ever been accepted off Cornell's waitlist late and been offered scholarship money to help offset the costs? I am debating whether I should keep my spot or not since I know for a fact I would not go unless money was involved and I highly doubt they would give out any money.

Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I don't know about the waitlist, but a few people got $ off reserve up to 37.5K. The person who just withdrew on Friday had 120K, so they should have money available, but I don't know if they're planning on giving it out.Dmini7 wrote:Has anyone ever been accepted off Cornell's waitlist late and been offered scholarship money to help offset the costs? Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Seems like this waiting list is a bit long for the perceived small number of spots that may or may not become available. So, I wonder what the deal is? For those are thinking of committing elsewhere, are you finding this waitlist problematic? I am torn between withdrawing from the waitlist and staying because of Cornell's late date of their orientation. The school I may commit to has an early orientation date and therefore I must commit a little earlier, and am moving next weekend. Does it make sense to have hope at this point?

Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Yeah last year they made their official waiting list in early June and not everyone who was reserved made the wait list (according to the 2015 thread). This year they did it in late July and it seems like everyone made it from reserve. Although I would LOVE to return to my Alma mater, I'm afraid that at this point the waiting list is just a formality. Maybe we can hope for movement shortly after tuition is due?

Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Like I have mentioned before, my impression is that getting in from Cornell's waitlist consists of (1) having any of the current seats open up and (2) being selected from the waitlist for the newly open seat(s) (i.e. it's still very competitive). I also believe that all of the incoming-class seats have already been filled up as the people who have been offered those seats have at least verbally confirmed their intention to enroll. Thus, our chances depend on whether some of these people get off from some other waitlist that they'd take over Cornell, whether they decide to defer, or whether they decide to withdraw for some other outstanding reason.icanbeohyes wrote:Seems like this waiting list is a bit long for the perceived small number of spots that may or may not become available. Despite our low odds, I have also heard that it is not impossible to get in from the waitlist. A reliable source told me that there has been at least one person admitted to Cornell just before classes started. This person already had a housing arrangement at another law school and was either at the other school's orientation or had already started classes (my memory fails me on this particular detail) when this person was offered a seat at Cornell Law. The person stayed flexible for Cornell and ended up snatching the spot that was offered.
If I were you, I'd commit to the other school and then evaluate things if Cornell ends up offering something. It is unlikely but not impossible.

I skimmed that and read it as "Pay me off to go to Penn/Columbia, and if I do the spot's all yours."Rlabo wrote:Pray for me to get off WL at Penn/Columbia, and if I do the spots all yours.

Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
HAHAHAHA, I'm not that evil, you wouldnt have to pay me off! But if that offers still on the table, I'll take the money and go to columbia/penn with it as upfront tuition to let me in, and if it works u can have my spot and if not money goes back to you. Wishful thinking much?chraruce wrote:I skimmed that and read it as "Pay me off to go to Penn/Columbia, and if I do the spot's all yours."Rlabo wrote:Pray for me to get off WL at Penn/Columbia, and if I do the spots all yours.

Cornell calls the initial waitlist the reserve list. Then once the T-14 trickle down effect is mostly done and they have a full class of people deposited, the reserve list becomes a summer waitlist. At that point you can only get in if someone already deposited decides to withdraw.

I was also placed on the waitlist. I didn't send in any LOCI besides the one where they asked for an update in May. I actually had thought I withdrew since it had been so long since hearing from them. I withdrew my spot after being placed on the waitlist though since I knew it was way to late to even consider attending.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
