I submitted the first day apps could be submitted with a 3.98, 171. I go to a top 25 public, decent extra curriculars, law firm internship, on a dance team, etc...and haven't heard anything but that my app is complete. Any thoughts? I also wrote a Why UVA and a diversity statement.

To everyone wondering why they havent heard back yet (RD) looking at last years graph, it looks like starting this week there was a big increase in acceptances. Just like past cycles it seems like the for sure acceptances have found out early, just hang in there if you are closer to the medians.

That's an egregious delay, especially given your numbers. Have you spoken with the dean of admissions about the delay? If not, you should call tomorrow morning until you're able to get through to the dean. UVA accepts via phone call, so they'll probably thank you for calling them, thereby saving them the effort of dialing your number. HTH.

Submitted 11/19, not exactly sure how long it took me to go complete though. Probably jumpin' the gun here since it hasn't been long at all but was wondering if there's hope for me in December! All this good news is exciting. Congrats everyone!

From a current southerner: It's "y'all".

And checking in. Submitted on 11/20 and have been "complete and under consideration" for quite a while. Any idea when I can expect to hear back? Still in undergrad and numbers in the profile

oopsy daisy...makes sense since the combined words are "you all." We are similar in terms of submission, since I submitted the 19th, that's why I was wondering the stats of people with decisions. Seems like there is certainly a possibility of hearing in December, since 2012Split177 submitted 11/15 and got in 11/30 . Like he mentioned though, it may depend on numbers and residency (also I didn't check if he was ED which would probably change things).

Seeing as how they're being so generous financially, would it be poor form to negotiate for more even though (I feel) I was lucky to get in?

I dont think so. Just say you are grateful to be accepted and would very much like to attend but that costs will greatly determine where you are able to attend. Cograts on your acceptance by the way.

Congratulations!

And I'm in the same boat danitt. 60% scholarship is kickass, but 70% would make life after law school even less painful...

Guess I'll wait to to see if any school offers me any more money, which is highly unlikely.

You can't negotiate at this point. You'll probably need other T14 offers, so wait until that point. Its certainly not even poor form.

And in your case, they are as hell aren't being generous. Even with your scholly you're still ~$200k in the red.

And don't feel "lucky" to get in, you've worked hard for this and they would be lucky to have you attending

Two questions... this thread is really long so sorry if this has already been covered...

1) I submitted in early November and got my online status check login email on 11/12. My status check page says in the header that my app is complete but no status date in the upper left quadrant like I see on all my other schools' status pages. Is this normal?

2) I didn't write a Why UVA. I didn't write a "Why X" for any schools except UNC because they required it. I just didn't realize it was pseudo-required at schools like UVA and Michigan until after I'd submitted and started reading this board. Would people suggest trying to submit one now or wait until I get waitlisted and then submit?

The bolded is debateable. I didn't write one and got in. I think the necessity of these essays for MVP is wildly overstated

Sorry if the answer is obvious, but what is "MVP"? Michigan, Virginia, and P?

Thanks!

Edit: P=Penn?

Checking in. Just submitted after getting a Fee Waiver but i'm below the median on both so who knows. 2-3 years WE in Finance, varsity athletics, startups, etc.

Definitely debatable. I did not write one and got in with a full scholarship last week. I would not sweat it.

They seem less interested in YP this year. My numbers almost always get WL.

What is conventional wisdom on negotiating scholly $$$ across peer school such as UVA and others within the lower T14? Should one contact them earlier in the cycle with the hopes of more cash flow being available (but obviously ruling the option out very, very early if the attempt is failed)? Or is it better to wait until March and April with all offers in hand? I had planned on waiting things out, but UVA seems to have the pedal to the metal right now with these scholly offers.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
