No news since being held in late February. I think there has only been a single post-hold acceptance so far (which happened last week); he/she is URM.[/quote]

once admitted, what do you need to do to be considered for financial aid. (other than fafsa and need access)

That's fine then, they'll just need your parents.txdude45 wrote:what if i didn't file taxes in 2012? Wait so they really want my 2011 Return, right? Not the one I'm about to file?

I thought you had to file either way. I don't think you can just send in your parents taxesph5354a wrote:That's fine then, they'll just need your parents.txdude45 wrote:what if i didn't file taxes in 2012? That's probably a question for the fin aid office. But if you made so little that the federal government doesn't require you to file a tax return, I don't know why Columbia would require you to file for their benefit, especially if you were claimed as a dependent on your parent's return. It's possible they'd still want your W2s though.

Late to update, but I got in last Friday!!! Very excited to have such a great option. 169/3.6x/URM.
I'm really thankful they accepted me, but after starting the cycle as my dream school, my response to Columbia's email at this point was basically to laugh. It took four months and my acceptance was buried among shopping emails... somewhat anticlimactic.

Some people have already heard from the hold pile.smdpnp wrote:In last year's thread, held applicants started to get accepted/reserved on Tues, Apr 10. Maybe we'll get decisions tomorrow.chickpea wrote:decisions?
Just to double-check, Columbia didn't send out LOCI requests to held applicants this year, right?

Awesome, thanks for the info. I was held pretty recently so maybe I'll hear back later this week/next week.smdpnp wrote:In last year's thread, non-URM held applicants started to get accepted/reserved on Tues, Apr 10. Maybe we'll get decisions tomorrow.chickpea wrote:decisions?

Thank you for this!
I didn't receive a LOCI request but I immediately sent them one after I was held.

I didn't get a LOCI request; I was held in late February and haven't heard a thing since. Seems like they might not be doing the LOCI request procedure this year. Hope we all hear back soon!smdpnp wrote:In last year's thread, non-URM held applicants started to get accepted/reserved on Tues, Apr 10. Maybe we'll get decisions tomorrow.chickpea wrote:decisions?

I received my financial aid decision in the mail today, and my family and I haven't filed our taxes from this year yet. So if you turned in your fin aid questionnaire and provided them with last year's tax forms, I would think you should be fine.banjo wrote:Thanks. Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
this is true, but they will request your 2012 right after so why not just file and send that in. and if your 2012 differs heavily from your 2011 and stated NeedAccess ect., they will just change the scholarship anywayclouded.memory wrote:I received my financial aid decision in the mail today, and my family and I haven't filed our taxes from this year yet. also, any particular reason you received it in the mail? do they not email the scholarship offers?
