Why are you guys all obsessing over the status checker? Don't we all know their status checker is useless and we get our decisions by snail mail?

Sorry guys. It was just an NYU booklet thing. Apparently they send something a week after they send the acceptance letter. So we wait another day

EVERYONE IS GOING TO COLUMBIA!
Look on the bright side haha
In light of declining applicants, Columbia Law School has decided to shut down, and the status check page was the first to go.

Yup status checker back up for me too.
As this is week 4 of January.. (see pg 1 graphs).. and we @ tls are a notoriously superstitious group.. and this is the first time this "glitch" has happened.. I'm going to go ahead and posit that its not a coincidence, first round of decisions have been made and letters are on the way.
Maybe.

Looking through last years thread, it looks like the first wave of acceptances were sent out on Jan 24, so as you said, we're definitely in the neighborhood. Just one more datum (heh.)jbagelboy wrote:As this is week 4 of January.. So.. NYC people should be hearing by Thursday if your theory is correct, right?

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Hopefully then we can get some confirmation on their ASWs so I can add it to my completely neurotic thread. After much snooping it looks like it is LIKELY March 6-7 and April 3-4 this year, but I think we'll get some clarity after VCE's go out.
Also- does anyone have a picture of the VCE? Or a color sample?
ETA columbia's decision graph looks like a heart attack and/or orgasm just sayin'

I'm ready! Do you honestly think the status glitch meant something? If you had to place $200 on it meant SOMETHING or was just a plain technological error, which would you choose? Haha. I'm obviously bored and have NOTHING productive to do. Except winespyke123 wrote:very likely... oh god it is starting..Teflon_Don wrote:So.. I actually prefer decisions to not come out because my chances at CLS are pretty much 0. As long as no RD decisions have come out, I can ignore reality a bit more than when VCEs have been flying out.Teflon_Don wrote:I'm ready! Do you honestly think the status glitch meant something? Why was Thursday decided on out of curiosity? Have all the VCEs come out on 1/24? Or the first ones? That would be pretty cool if Columbia managed to make it so all the admits got it on the same day.

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I think last year the first batch was postmarked on a Monday and got to those living in the city by Wed. So if CLS mailed out this year's first batch today I am assuming the first sight of them should be this Thursday? This is just a guess though.twinkletoes16 wrote:Why was Thursday decided on out of curiosity? Have all the VCEs come out on 1/24? Or the first ones? No, even though the first batch will probably all get sent out around the same day, it'll definitely take 2-3 days for all the VCEs to reach everyone in the US alone. I remember being one of the earliest RDers on the forum to get an envelope (except for another person in Brooklyn who got it the day before I think), and then a day or so later more and more people got them from farther across the country. So don't be discouraged, the US postal service is definitely not as speedy as email.twinkletoes16 wrote:Why was Thursday decided on out of curiosity? Have all the VCEs come out on 1/24? And of course, after the first big wave there will be a more sustained yet slower trickle all the way through March/April even.

Don't be discouraged by any of this! You never know what will happen. I ended up getting accepted, but getting accepted so late into the cycle that they emailed me my acceptance instead of waiting for my VCE to arrive, just to make sure I had enough time to consider financial aid and make deadlines.starrydreamz3 wrote:No, even though the first batch will probably all get sent out around the same day, it'll definitely take 2-3 days for all the VCEs to reach everyone in the US alone. So who in the immediate NYC area is optimistically hopeful they'll be in the first wave and can be our VCE spotter? I'm here, but I think I'll be riding the waitlist at best...
