I didn't know Dean Perry was conducting some of the interviews herself. Sounds cool.lsatprepguy wrote:Just had my interview with Dean Perry:
Was very interested in Chicago and after my interview, I'm even more interested.
I was really worried about my interview, but Dean Perry is very easy to talk to and made the interview a pleasurable experience.
Anyway, I'm still not expecting anything until later in the week, since they told facile princeps he'd hear back "in a few weeks" and it'll have been two weeks this Friday.

I'm guessing that we should be able to apply for student loans once we have access to the Accepted Student Website. I don't think they have updated their website for the next class (matriculating in the Fall of 2013) since on your link they don't even have the instructions up for 2013-2014.Regulus wrote:sup worm![]()
I have a quick question for all of you other admits (or anyone else who might know)... on the University of Chicago's Student Loan Administration Website (LinkRemoved), if you make an account you can begin filling out the application for "2012-2013 applicants".... but even though we are applying during the 2012-2013 cycle, we are actually "2013-2014 applicants," right? I finally got my tax returns and FAFSA sent off and started to fill this thing out until I got to a question that said:
... at which point I realized that I am probably filling in last year's thing. When are we supposed to be able to apply for all of this stuff? I want to get all of this out of the way as quickly as possible.University of Chicago wrote:Status During 2012-2013 Academic Year:

Patience. And you will all get in. I went ahead and just completed the Need Access Application instead. Two questions for any of you who have done this for Chicago (or elsewhere) already:
1) Like I asked above in regards to the University of Chicago's Student Loan Administration Website (LinkRemoved), we are supposed to fill out an application for the 2013-2014 cycle on Need Access, right (and not 2012-2013)? The reason I ask this is because a lot of the questions seemed very future-tensey, but were extremely specific (like "How much money will you make during the summer of 2013?"), so it kind of made me wonder if I was even filling out the right form...
2) Towards the beginning of the Need Access application process, it says that students should have their parents enter their information as well, but I never got a single screen that asked for parent salary information (all I saw were a few questions about how much they had contributed to my undergrad studies). I wonder if there are criteria that determine whether you are independent before you get to that point and thus automatically skip the parental information section. Chicago's website doesn't help any, because it says that "parent information is required on the Need Access Application for anyone who is 28 or younger at the time the application is submitted," which makes me wonder why it didn't pop up for me.
Thanks in advance for anyone who has any info on these topics!
Yo Regulus Chicago admitting anyone RD this year??? Between your bad ass charts and your ED I figure you got the scoop.

This makes me chuckle, because it reminds me of a platoon sergeant at Army intelligence school who once berated all of us trainees, telling us that our incompetence was "going to get someone killed. Probably yourselves, or someone else." The difference was, she wasn't trying to make a joke.Anonymous4444 wrote:I may have been wrong on Monday and then again on Tuesday, but today is the day we get the email.

Here's to hoping today's the day, though!

Some schools have touched on this in their invitations, and they usually say something along the lines of, your SO is welcome to join you to most of the events but there may be certain events that they will be unable to attend. So I'd say go for it.Regulus wrote:Yeah, it is definitely maybe today.Anonymous4444 wrote:I may have been wrong on Monday and then again on Tuesday, but today is the day we get the email.

Sorry for all of the random questions, but I've got another one for you all regarding admitted students weekend. As the name of the event hints at, is this for students only, or is it normal (as in "not weird") to bring family members (spouses, for example) too? If it is customary to bring family, I am thinking of bringing my wife with me... but if not, I want to make sure we don't run into a potentially awkward situation.

Yeah I had the same question. Lets just do it and hope there are some tlsers there who will promise to not look at us weird.Regulus wrote:Yeah, it is definitely maybe today.Anonymous4444 wrote:I may have been wrong on Monday and then again on Tuesday, but today is the day we get the email.

has there been any ED candidate who got admitted without interviewing?
(also, interview invites come via e-mail, not phone call, right?)

I don't think there's anything strictly wrong with it but in past discussions posters have said that bringing a guest makes those people stand out and potentially look like a lame-o (especially if they bring a parent) and posters have also questioned the utility of bringing a guest, especially if they're just going to be bored and can't fully participate.
Personally I'm the type who likes to have a sounding board and I'm not super social and outgoing so I would probably prefer having someone with me but I flew solo at all the ASWs I went to last cycle for some of the aforementioned reasons. But it's all up to personal preference I think.

Did a bunch of acceptances to RD candidates go out yesterday? I'm still waiting.
