Applied last night. I got a fee waiver and was invited for PT. Didn't write a why Duke, didn't rework my PS but it was loosely what Duke wanted anyway. Not really planning on attending Duke, but $21 is worth the chance at acceptance for negotiating scholarship offers at other schools.

Yeah that was a pretty douchey post. What was the point other than letting everyone know you think you're above Duke?husker2012 wrote:I know this is the name of the game, but damn. As someone on the waitlist, I would appreciate if you could at least TRY to pretend like you're interested.Dylanlj13 wrote:Applied last night. I got a fee waiver and was invited for PT. Not saying I'm above Duke at all. I have a good shot at getting admitted, but I'll most likely be going to a school in my state. An acceptance from Duke would really help me negotiate scholarships with the state school.bernaldiaz wrote:Yeah that was a pretty douchey post. For those on PT - is the decision within ten days or ten business days?

Re: Duke c/o 2016 Applicants Thread (2012-2013 Cycle)
I had the same question and I found this quote from Bill Hoye, Associate Dean for Admissions & Student Affairs:LSP12 wrote:For those on PT - is the decision within ten days or ten business days?
"Each year, we invite a small number of candidates to apply to Duke through this program. We guarantee that the applicants will receive a response from us within ten days after the application becomes complete. The response could be an offer of admission, a waitlist offer, an invitation to interview, a deny decision. Or, in some cases, we have to hold the file for further review. But the applicant will hear something back relatively quickly. We keep the Priority Track pool very small so that we can give each application the same rigorous treatment that every other application receives, but we’re careful to ensure that the evaluation happens within a very tight timeframe. Of course, this can make for some very late nights and previous Priority Track applicants might tell you that they received their email decisions at very odd hours!"
Makes it sound like 10 calendar days, but that's the closest I could find to a definite answer.

Best of luck to all you!
I think they send the invites to auto admits + students with numbers around 25th percentiles. My numbers do not make me a auto admit either (168 3.92) and I got a PT invite.

Did people on PT hear responses via email or snail mail? I'm not sure if I should be more nervous checking my email or my mailbox...

Status checker changes first to "Decision made; watch for email". Then after that you get an email. Official snail mail with swag comes a week or so later.meggylou wrote:Did people on PT hear responses via email or snail mail? Do we know from the thread last year when Duke first started sending decisions to non-PT? It is hard to gauge from LSN because some people don't mark PT even though they are.

Jaqen: A friend of mine asked for a merit-based fee waiver, which was forwarded to the person in charge of PT invites and he got one the next day. Not sure if the two are connected, but maybe wait a day or two and try that?

Looks like the first person to report an RD acceptance in that thread was on Nov. 15th (page 28).venus wrote:Do we know from the thread last year when Duke first started sending decisions to non-PT? It is hard to gauge from LSN because some people don't mark PT even though they are.
