It was expected, I just wish I had made better use of my ED back in November. That was a huge mistake ED'ing to Columbia I think. Should have used it maybe on Mich or Duke.LRGhost wrote:I'm sorryDaRascal wrote:Rejected. Uh oh... I'm in some trouble...

Forgive me if I sound ungrateful... But I really disliked Michigan when I visited for ASW last week. I would do anything for an acceptance from NYU (and/or the other schools I'm waiting on). I think I'd be pretty unhappy as a Michigan student.KanyeShrug wrote:You're in at Michigan though, which I hate you for.ht2988 wrote:+1KanyeShrug wrote:12/26. I'm probably a WL.

Almost everyone was white. School spirit on steroids. I'm an introvert. There's no escaping U of M once you're in A2 - it's everywhere, and to me that was overwhelming. I want to be able to disappear after class. The student body also seemed young and there didn't appear to be much else to do besides drink beer when it came to socializing. Also, the laid back and collegial feel just isn't what I'm looking for - I thrive in a more uptight and professional setting. It's a fantastic school and there were many good things I observed, but this is definitely not the school for me. I am praying for an acceptance elsewhere.

Haha well not really. Just some T14 WL's (Mich, Duke, G'Town non-priority), dings, ED deferal (Columbia), and a hold (NWestern). It's tough because I'm wondering if an ED to Mich or Duke might have changed everything. I also have undergrad loans (30k) that'll have to be paid if I take the year off and I'm getting a ton of family pressure to go to Seton Hall (full ride) even though I know that's not a great idea. I desperately need something to come through because I'm in a real bind.LRGhost wrote:Has the rest of your cycle been OK? I don't know that ED would have made a difference but I would be churning off LOCIs and scheduling times to visit like a madman. Go for broke at this point.DaRascal wrote:Haha well not really. Would visit the schools but I'm pretty poor (couldn't even do an interview for Northwestern because of that!), but I did send off some LOCIs to Northwestern, Michigan, and Cornell (reserved). I've had some additional recs sent in too. Really not quite sure what to do. I was advised against it but with my GPA going to the high 3.4 range by the time I graduate, the loans kicking in, and uncertainty about what score I'd need on a retake to get T14, I'm tempted to gamble on BC at sticker if I can't get into a T14.LRGhost wrote:I don't know that ED would have made a difference but I would be churning off LOCIs and scheduling times to visit like a madman. If you're a student, try and get a job at a restaurant ASAP and work for three weeks to afford a plane ticket. I know it's hard man but if you want it, you gotta try to work with everything you can. Do whatever you can to scrounge up $300, dude. Don't let it go to waste.DaRascal wrote:Would visit the schools but I'm pretty poor (couldn't even do an interview for Northwestern because of that!), but I did send off some LOCIs to Northwestern, Michigan, and Cornell (reserved). Well okay I technically can afford the trip but it'd take a serious chunk out of my bank account. Are they still doing held interviews? I see there's one spot left on the 28th for an on-campus interview and I could buy a ticket and fly out there but I also have two absences in a class I have on Thursdays so maybe it's not such a great idea. Don't think my professor will excuse it.LRGhost wrote:If you're a student, try and get a job at a restaurant ASAP and work for three weeks to afford a plane ticket.
