I only applied on Jan 20 and have already gotten UR1 on Jan 23rd and UR2 on Jan 24th. Is it normal for the NYU date to update everyday like Michigan's status check?

UR update again today. Is a UR3 without a call a bad sign?

Just realized that with my 1/25 update I reverted from "Under Review" back to "Complete." Now today I got another UR. What does it all meeeeeean?

went complete & UR1 1/7 and have had no movement since then in spite of an LOCI sent last week. 178/3.8 from a T5 school. i really want to be in new york but it's not looking good for either columbia or NYU. anyone have any thoughts about anything else i could do?

Isn't that a little soon to send an LOCI? Regardless, it seems like with your numbers you should be good to go. I know there's lots of talk in this thread about NYU being done with anything but waitlists at this point but as a fellow January submit I am holding out hope that we'll still get full consideration.

I'm sure you will all be fine and get in. I'm assuming the number of acceptances at NYU plummets this time of year just because they've accepted so many people already and there aren't that many people newly submitting in mid/late January or later for them to accept. I think everyone's pessimistic opinions about acceptances are exclusively for people who have been UR since Oct/Nov/Dec (like myself ).

well.. I don't want to douse your optimism but tons of people who submitted in Jan got in already.. typically within a week or two of going UR... so I think submit /UR dates are pretty much irrelevant at this point.. i.e. NYU is probably done admitting people until April..

PT: when did you submit and what are your numbers? The Complete to UR date can be pretty quick for NYU, but, as we've seen, the initial UR date doesn't matter much here. They accept some people pretty fast, within a week of going complete, and others, well, not so fast.

Sorry to hear that! Is it sad that I'm jealous of not getting a ding of my own...silence after an early November complete date. NYU officially has the admission office that I hate the most.

I didn't get a UR update, still stuck at 12/13 which was, as you mentioned, the date of the deferral e-mail. I wouldn't try to read into the tea leaves too much, if anything your update is a good thing, they didn't just toss you into the WL pile after getting deferred from ED. Congrats on your cycle so far! I'm still waiting for my first acceptance, have a feeling it might be awhile.

Seriously. Why can't NYU admissions behave like a normal T14 and not wait until April to waitlist a bunch of people they already knew they were going to waitlist back in January/early February.

Dunno but it's pretty annoying. At this point I'm contemplating just withdrawing from my remaining pending apps since I applied in September and if I haven't heard anything by now it's gonna be either a ding or WL anyway, and I'm probably not gonna ride any WLs.
