If you don't get a Wilson invite, does that mean there is no way you will get a $20,000 or more scholarship to Penn? Or is that just a specific merit scholarship, and unnamed merit awards can be in any amount?

Looks like they can do whatever they please for the Dean's Scholarship, though it reads as though it's on a one-year (at worst) or year-by-year (at best) basis. So that's fun.

I only have limited knowledge about Penn's scholarships, but AFAIK the Dean's will only go up to $20k a year, and they give it to you for all 3 years.shntn wrote:https://www.law.upenn.edu/admissions/fi ... rships.phpJamesDean1955 wrote:If you don't get a Wilson invite, does that mean there is no way you will get a $20,000 or more scholarship to Penn? Good to know, thanks guys. I also noticed on the admitted students website, it says 80% of students receive some aid, and, more importantly, there is language there about sending them your scholarship offers from peer schools, and they seem pretty amenable to negotiation.SportsFan wrote:I only have limited knowledge about Penn's scholarships, but AFAIK the Dean's will only go up to $20k a year, and they give it to you for all 3 years.shntn wrote:https://www.law.upenn.edu/admissions/fi ... rships.phpJamesDean1955 wrote:If you don't get a Wilson invite, does that mean there is no way you will get a $20,000 or more scholarship to Penn? when schools say some form of aid though, that usually includes loansJamesDean1955 wrote:Good to know, thanks guys. ^ Yeah I figured that, unfortunately :/. But the main point I wanted to make with that post is they definitely seem open to negotiating.

Re: Penn C/O 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
The LSAC data (which I believe includes the classes of 2012, 2013, and 2014) states that, of 803 students, 351 or 43.7% receive grants of any kind, and the majority of those students (278 or 79%) received grants for less than 1/2 tuition.
I think Penn will be more generous this year, though. I just can't see how they can afford not to be. NYU even invented a new full-tuition scholarship (it had previously been a named scholarship for LLM students) to give to people, presumably just to be more competitive this year.

Also, is UCR 2 a necessary condition for admission?
