In case this information is useful to anyone: I got admitted via phone call ~ 11 AM today. I had sort of written Berkeley off, figuring I'd be passed over in favor of applicants with higher GPAs (I'm 3.69/176), particularly cause I just turned in my 2-page PS that I had sent everywhere else. I do have somewhat unique / interesting work experience which ties into my career aspirations (which I discussed in my app), but nothing else particularly "different."- perhaps there's hope for applicants with lower GPAs this time around.

Out if curiosity: to those that were admitted via email, is it because you are international applicants or cannot by reached by phone at the moment or something like that?

For everyone speculating when they will hear back and why they haven't received a decision yet even though they applied early, just read last year's thread and look at LSN. It's a bloodbath and a clusterfuck so nobody can really tell you anything. Just sit back, drink a beer or something and the decision will get here when it gets here. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

You are right, it's very hard to predict something with Berkeley. There's nothing to do but wait!

I mean, for realsies here, I had a self-check today and realized that most of us who went under review 10/25 are complaining about not hearing back by now, but its only been 30 days. That's a pretty tall order. Last year there were even some 10/25ers who didn't hear back until late January. My expectations for early submission = timely response have flown out the window, haha.

Last cycle it looked like Mondays were data-release days. The rest of the week was pretty silent.

I was told in the phone call that there was a packet of sorts coming in the mail in December. Could be included in there...not sure.

just got the status update email from lsstatuscheck - Berkeley added all of my biographic/contact info to my status checker today (I didn't even notice it wasn't there before...). that must mean I'm admitted or about to be, right?
