Georgetown vs CU Boulder vs Hastings. Forum

I'm trying to choose between Gtown at full price, Hastings at 75%, and Colorado at 50% tution. I know most people would choose Gtown. But even though I love the school, I don't care much for DC. I've lived in big cities for a while, and I want to live somewhere more laid back and less expensive (for me San Fran is much more relaxed than DC). I'd like to settle in California practicing technology law. I'm on a few desirable waitlists including UCLA, Vandy, Wash U, etc. Please let me know what you think. In a perfect world, Id get into UCLA off the WL or transfer there or to Berkeley next year. Thanks.

I'd say that you should go where you want to go, and it sounds like it's Hastings. Not only has Hastings offered you aid, but it's also in your ideal location. Like you said, if you're not happy at Hastings you could try to transfer to Berkeley. And the UCLA WL is a nice backup. Just my two cents!

Are you going into big time debt for these schools?

Not sure why Colorado is on the list if you want California. Gtown is way better than Hastings at those prices.

A lot of people underrate the 'quality of living' aspect of law school.

Don't plan on transferring it is very, very difficult. You'd need top 10% to even start thinking about it.

Go to Hastings if you want to graduate from Hastings.

Are you going into debt? Hastings with only 1/4 off is still super expensive. If your LSAT is what is holding you back you should definitely try to retake.

Thanks for the input. I definitely won't be re-taking the LSAT with Georgetown as an option. If I want to go to an elite big city school, then I'll just go there. But I am very interested in quality of life. Boulder is under consideration because I really like it there. I'm more likely to go there than Hastings because of the money and the surroundings.

It's a difficult choice for me. If UCLA or USC come through for me, then things will be a little easier. Thanks again.

I'm sitting across from the law school right now (yes, at 6 am), and with the sun coming up over the plains and shining on the campus and the flatirons, it's just beautiful here. I do not blame you at all! I would only caution that despite the fact that career services will probably tell you that getting a job in california won't be too difficult because CU is now in the PAC 12 or some similar nonsense, your job hunt will be very difficult and 100% on your networking abilities. If I were you, I'd go to a school in the state I wanted to live, unless of course you'd like to work for a large firm or federal agency, then I would say go to GTown.

That said- why in the world would you not want to live in Colorado?
