Re: Harvard Waitlist 2012
I've asked this earlier in the week but curious again: any KB1/JS1--WL people get new KB1s/JS1s this week? In past years it seems some of us are in the first WL wave. But this year is certainly not a typical cycle. As a KB1--WL I am hoping they send out some KB2/JS2s to us without interviewing. I think JR did this a few years ago.

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2012
18.
Thats the new total after the 3 JS1s reported today (and we're counting 1 non-TLSer reported by their friend). Congratulations!
This appears to be the 2nd WL admit wave that usually quickly follows the first one. True to form, its much smaller.
If history keeps repeating itself, a couple more people may get invited next week to complete the 2nd wave. After that, 1-5 more people will get offers drip-by-drip over the summer. Then in mid-August (12th last year), there will be a major cull. After this, possibly 1-2 admits come up to the time of orientation (happened in 2010, not 2011).
History may not repeat itself, and more may be admitted IF there is a larger effect from the fall in applicants than we can discern right now. For example, if HLS underadmitted and needs more from the WL. Or if YLS takes more from the WL, (which may have already happened).

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2012
I just read the last 4 pages and I am so disappointed and confused. I really wanted you all to get in yesterday. As for the KB1s going out I agree with sharkdean, I think they did in fact split up the files; JS read and interviewed some and now it's KB's turn. What I don't get is how that affects your chances of getting in.
Will there be more KB1s? I don't know but if they follow their current pattern, Monday will be the last day (b4 the interviews begin) that an interview will be sent out for next week. I don't think they have sent interview invites on the same day others had interviews.
When will u guys hear back? That will probably depend on them. They might want to wait after KB is done for the week or they might stagger them according to your interview date. I really hope each KB1/JS1 corresponds to an empty seat. Interviewing 70 people for 50 spots (just an example) is just wrong to do to people on the WL. It's June, I don't know why there is no sense of urgency in this process. People need to get housing, withdraw from other schools, freak out, fill aid forms, cancel leases etc in less than 3 months.
For those still waiting for invites, there is hope. I'm going to be realistic and say that the hope is
Less than it was last week but there is a some possibility that more invites will go out soon. also think about it this way the longer they wait, the longer someone that got interviewed earlier commits to his current school increasing the chances of him turning down the offer. Also I don't think there will be a urm 'wave' I think they might just admit URMs gradually. Or they might want to see which people accept the invites and then admit the URMs.
Also are all the people who were interviewed then WL interviewed by KB? Are there any JS1-->WL? Maybe KB will deal with that group if they are going to 'reinterview' u all
I'm still pulling for you all and I really hope u hear soon. best of luck

Hey guys, I'm pulling for all of you! I'm just checking for a non-TLS friend--have any of the recent KB/JS1s off the WL been interviewed earlier in the process? Thanks guys, and good luck to all!

Re: Harvard Waitlist 2012
avd90: I believe the answer is no.
JDflowergirl: That would be truly intriguing, if KB and JS both have their own respective piles. It could mean we will see 2 WL-admit waves, rather than last years 1 and a bit afterwards. Might there even be a KB1 wave of 13-15 to match the JS1 wave?
That'd be awesome!!

+1
If anyone looks at the 2010 WL thread they had a lot of movement between May and July. It might be equivalent to what's happening this year, just within a shorter time frame.

I'm going to be chill until people start getting JS2s. Then I'm going to freak out.Md814 wrote:+1. The more time that passes after my interview, the worse I feel like I did...cerealdan wrote:This wait is just killing me.

When is the latest KB1 next week scheduled? Wednesday? Ps looking back on the WL movement during the 2010 cycle almost all calls were joint JR1/JR2s and occurred in May. If we had only been so lucky!

Ummmm....okay quick question, guys. I'm currently abroad and cannot check my voicemail...if I get a KB1 and I don't answer, they'll e-mail you, right?

The KB/JS1 is the email you get setting a date and time for the interview. So you'll find out in email to schedule the call. They won't cold call. So if you can check your email, then you're all good.gatorlaw wrote:Ummmm....okay quick question, guys. Can't sleep even though it's still early over here.
But wanted to say that even if we don't hear back tomorrow I will still be happy if amc987, hypothalamus and Elendil get JS1s/KB1s tomorrow.

I'm going to try lying down and staring at my ceiling for a while...maybe that'll help.

I somehow missed the whole KB/JS swap... When and how did that happen? When did JS come back? I've been a bad TLSer, and I don't even feel like going through posts carefully to figure out what happened. I must be sick!sharktankdean wrote:Can't sleep even though it's still early over here.

There are more than a few of us. I don't think anyone who had a pre-waitlist interview has been asked for a second interview...yet. Who knows what that means...MichelFoucault wrote:Glad im not the only KB1->WLnoggo10 wrote:I've asked this earlier in the week but curious again: any KB1/JS1--WL people get new KB1s/JS1s this week? It happened for all interviews for this week. JS did last week's interviews. KB is doing this week's interviews. JS came back for the waitlist stuff.hypothalamus wrote:I somehow missed the whole KB/JS swap... When and how did that happen? When did JS come back?
