USC Waitlist 2012

Post by Buffer1212 » Fri Apr 13, 2012 3:32 pm

I saw people started making these for other schools, so I figured to start one for USC. Anyone else riding out the waitlist with me?

How long after accepting your position on the waitlist did the email about the video interview arrive?

The video interview e-mail came about 2-3 days after. The deadline from my e-mail said April 27th, so they will probably be e-mailing you tomorrow if the deadline is the same! Good luck!

Yah, definitely way up there on my awkward list, especially with my roommates in the other room who could probably hear me saying the same thing over and over as I did quite a few takes.

Georgetown had a video optional question which I did. Really wasn't that bad. But then, it was an open "video about yourself of one minute in length," so not much time to screw anything up.

i spoke to a girl in admissions a few weeks back who said it really doesn't matter, and that it's actually hurt people. i'm definitely not doing it - a strong LOCI will serve me better.

Hurt people as in they came off really poorly in their video interview?

Yeah. I definitely am not. A good 'ol LOCI is a lot more dependable. At least you have control over your message.

sure, but they say they strongly recommend it... seems like it would hurt you more to not do something they are strongly recommending to you?

I agree^ I also think making one shows strong interest in wanting to attend, maybe making the difference if you are being comapred with someone who has equal numbers.

i checked last year's waitlist thread and they started accepting people off the waitlist on the 11th. but most of the activity happened either in late May or late June.

I just hope I wasnt as awkward as I felt like I was on the webcam interview -__-

I got the wait list email on April 17th and I just got my acceptance today which was surprised me because it was so fast after the May 1 deposit deadline.

I did the following:
*video interview (I know I am not good at interviews/speeches but I guess the video didn't hurt me)
*one letter of rec mailed last week
*visited the campus for a tour class visit
*email a LOCI last night
*mailed another letter of rec on Tuesday (I don't even know if they read it yet)

I got an email saying I got in today around 5pm so I don't even know if they got my last letter. I would definitely suggest visiting and writing a LOCI to show your interest. Hope this helps anyone planning to wait it out!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
