Should I retake the LSAT in June?
Hi Everyone! I am a heavy splitter 3.94/154
Here is a rundown of my cycle
Accepted:
Charlotte
North Carolina Central
Elon (put down a deposit)
Savannah
Appalachian
Charleston
Waitlisted:
William and Mary
Washington and Lee
Richmond (1st choice)
American
George Mason
Not heard from: District of Columbia
Rejected: Wake
My question is do you think retaking the LSAT in June would help me get off of these waitlists? In all my practice tests I scored around a 160 but the night before the test my area had a huge storm that knocked out all the power and I just wasn't with it on the day of the test. Is it worth the money to retake and could a higher score get me into one of the schools I am waitlisted at?
also I should mention I have really good softs like an internship with VA Senator Jim Webb

Yes, retake. But don't go to any of those schools you're waitlisted at. Scored in the low to mid 160's and you can go to a much better school. Please don't go to Elon unless you have a job lined up after graduation

Wrong forum, but God yes, retake or don't go to law school.
You have a great GPA. All of the schools you're in at are horrible, and none of the ones you're WL'd at would be worth attending without a full ride or damn close. Don't go anywhere this year. Retake and reapply. Don't flush that GPA down the toilet.

I am in the same boat but instead of having a problem with power going out I have a standardized testing phoia that made me bomb the LSAT. I have a 3.9 GPA and a 152 LSAT. I was accepted to a couple schools in the Baltimore/DC area but none of them are really good schools. I was waitlisted at several of the same schools. I thought about retaking but I am scared I will bomb it again. I was practice testing in the high 160's and ended up with a 152 which was lower than the 1st LSAT practice test I took without even studying. I feel like I am settling to go to a low ranked school when I should be able to get into many different schools with money but I do not want to wait any longer to start school. I was thinking about retaking in June but I am not sure it would make a difference at this point since I want to go to school in the fall.

It may not make a difference if you want to go to school in the fall but PLEASE don't waste these GPA's on toilet schools. You have a 90-95% chance of regretting it three years down the line and winding up in shitlaw.Mandi wrote:I am in the same boat but instead of having a problem with power going out I have a standardized testing phoia that made me bomb the LSAT. Richmond is the only one I feel would be worth the money because my dad has friends in the area and I could easily get a job after graduating. I want to do public interest and my dad is friends with the VA director of the ACLU and seems to think he could get me in with them.

Can't say I agree, unless Richmond has some kind of amazing LRAP that I've never heard of. Which they don't. Unless your folks are footing the bill or something, $150K in debt at graduation (~$215K with interest, meaning payments of ~$1,800 per month or ~$21,500 per year for 10 years) means that out of the gate, PI is probably not even an option.cevaugha wrote:JasonR wrote:Wrong forum, but God yes, retake or don't go to law school.
