University of Tulsa c/o 2015
Couldn't find a thread...Anyone considering TU? 48 spot climb in 3 years, fairly generous scholarships, and if you want to practice in Tulsa or OK: ain't too shabby.

The realistic best case scenario coming out of TU is 45k a year, which could be great if you wanted to be a DA/PD anyway and were not concerned with getting rich. I'd hate to be in the bottom half of the class, though.

Yeah, its a good option if certain things line up, i.e. good scholarship to offset private school costs, you're heavily considering practicing in the Tulsa area, you're interested in the areas of Tribal Law or Energy. But in response to t he 45k comment, I'd agree to an extent. That might be the average salary starting out in Tulsa (cost of living is low compared to a lot of cities), but the earning potential if one was to get into the energy community in this area of the U.S. is far far far from that (one of the fastest growing areas of law).

Yah I put realistic best case scenario for that very reason. They do offer higher pay in Tulsa but only a handful of kids are going to get it.

I'm definitely considering it. They offered me nearly a full ride and they must be doing something right to be constantly increasing in the rankings each year. All of the other schools I'm looking at have either declined in the past 3 years or stayed pretty stagnent. What other schools are you two looking at?

OU, Arkansas, and OCU. Accepted at OU and supposed to have scholarship info this week or next according to their admissions staff. Waiting on Arkansas and OCU. Those are the only 4 schools I applied to. Still can't believe it when I pull up a person's profile on LSN and they have applied to like 30+ schools. However, the feeling of getting accepted is a rush, so maybe it would have been worth it. Haha.
How about yourself, what schools are you considering?

I wish T-Boone would build OSU a law school. Fund it well and keep it to around 100 a class.
I bet it would start off with way better medians than Tulsa and probably outrank it in short order.

Sounds great to me, would love to spend 3 years of law school in Stillwater! Just don't think OU would allow that to happen.

Haha, Yeah that's definitely me; I applied to about 26 or 27 I think. But I got fee waivers or free apps at 85% of the schools I applied to. And I'm seriously considering every one of them, I really don't care where I practice/live. Going wherever I get the most money and highest ranking and in a good market.Oklahoma2014 wrote:OU, Arkansas, and OCU. I just got accepted by way of waitlist. They gave me a decent scholarship, but I'm still hoping for OU.

Congrats bluewave! Are you from Oklahoma?
TU is very generous with scholarships, just wish they didn't have the gpa stipulation. OU doesn't offer much, unless you are out of state then they offer enough to cover oos fees. That's just my experience with each though.

Thank you! I'm actually from Texas, but believe it or not, I've been dinged by every ranked school here. I'm in at St. Mary's. Didn't apply to Weslayan or TSU. I prefer to practice around the San Antonio area, so so far St. Mary's seems to be the logical choice.Oklahoma2014 wrote:Congrats bluewave! Are you from Oklahoma?

I am still waiting on OU and LSU. Since TU, OU, and LSU are ranked so closely, I catergorize them together vs my unranked Texas schools (STMU, South Texas). I really don't know where I should go.
My instinct so far is to go with the regional school, but I think that is outweighed by the rank and reputations of the contending schools. My order so far is :
1:OU -I think I can get in state tuition, and Norman is great.
2:LSU -Positive experiences with them so far, good general reputation.
3:Tulsa -best ranked school I'm in so far, haven't visited though.
4:St. Mary's -local school, decent reputation here.
