Wait list Venting 2012
So I wanted to start this thread for people who have been wait listed. Which seems to be worst then a rejection since it places you in limbo and puts your plans on hold. I've been fortunate to only have a few wait lists this year but at some point it becomes frustrating and feels like your not worthy? In a weird way I feel disrespected...perhaps that's the ego speaking but a maybe just doesn't cut it sometimes.
Anyone else feel that way about the wait list.....like you're good perhaps alright just not good enough? Anyways people feel free and fire away and good luck on getting off those wait lists this year!

That's exactly why you're on the waitlist.

If I was looking for a smart ass answer I'd go to askjeeves. But this isn't made for me I'm fine with the schools and options I have. In general this is a criticisim of the wait list.Jaeger wrote:tooswolle wrote:So I wanted to start this thread for people who have been wait listed. I'm sure you thought this was a funny, smart ass response, but it really misses the mark.Jaeger wrote:tooswolle wrote:So I wanted to start this thread for people who have been wait listed. What's more apt is probably that you are good enough, but in the regards that can be conveyed in the application, other applicants are better. The wait list, as I understand it, means that they feel you're qualified to go to the law school, but that they find other applicants more attractive. But I don't think reassessing your worth is the enlightened response to being wait listed.moneybagsphd wrote:I'm sure you thought this was a funny, smart ass response, but it really misses the mark.Jaeger wrote:tooswolle wrote:So I wanted to start this thread for people who have been wait listed. Although it may seem like putting together those applications and the documents take forever, ultimately, only a small part of yourself can be shown in the application process. You have access to your thoughts, character, and experiences in a way that dwarfs any admissions committee. A waitlisting just shows that others came on top by one set of evaluative criteria with only a small fragmented piece of who you are.

Wait lists are a tough situation... I've been WL'd at 10 of 15 schools thus far, so I definitely feel your pain. Make sure you're sending well-edited LOCI's expressing your interest!

Law school apps are easy to predict. You really shouldn't be surprised at being waitlisted.

Everything I've read both in wait list letters & forums has said to email it to the admissions office. Make sure you use a letter format, and address it to whomever is on the wait list letter itself.GatorCTS wrote:Thanks. I just edited my other post so i doubt you saw my other question. For those who have sent more than one LOCI to the same school--what have you been saying to make it differ from the first one? It's been about 3 weeks since I've sent LOCI's to all of my waitlisted schools and I thought my first LOCI was superb. Now I'm not sure what else to include. More praise for the school?

I updated when I advanced in a competition I entered, but otherwise I'm waiting until after my visits coming up in the next few weeks to write another one. I don't know if I would write anything unless I had something to say.arae13 wrote:For those who have sent more than one LOCI to the same school--what have you been saying to make it differ from the first one? Re: Wait list Venting 2012
I think if anything it's good practice to send a letter of continued interest early on after the initial waitlist. From what I've gathered most places say your qualified for admission just not enough room. So the goal of any persuasive LOCI is to separate yourself from others to let the school know why you want to attend and how you can contribute to the overall experience. Best of luck to everyone on the waitlists!

Yer that's BS I got WL at my safety. A school I was at the median for lsat and above the 25th for GPA, as a URM, and this is while non-URM's with worse numbers than me got in. Law School Predictor put me as an Admit.johansantana21 wrote:Law school apps are easy to predict. You really shouldn't be surprised at being waitlisted.
I feel like the WL is them saying, we wouldn't mind taking your money (cause if you get off you know your paying sticker), but we would rather not have you. AKA if we let you in it's only cause we want your cash, and you should be happy to pay us.

I'm running into a very similar situation with my second round of LOCI's. Would greatly appreciate any real input on this!arae13 wrote:For those who have sent more than one LOCI to the same school--what have you been saying to make it differ from the first one?
