Only by one metric. As the wikipedia page points out, it was rated the #1 law school in the country by the Princeton Reviewmushybrain wrote:It's apparently a TTTT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ave_Maria_School_of_Law
for most interesting professors as rated by students
Also, there is already a thread for Ave Maria:

Re: Has anyone applied at Ave Maria
IIRC it was also the only law school in the nation to fail the fiscal responsibility test put out by the ABA. It's also considered to have possibly the lowest overall quality of faculty of any school in the nation. It's also the worst law school in a state with a LOT of bad law schools (see: Nova Southeastern, Barry, St. Thomas, Florida Coastal, and FIU are all T4 schools).
Do not waste your money applying.

Re: Has anyone applied at Ave Maria
I actually applied before I did any research on law schools. When ave Maria was in Michigan it seems that the school enjoyed a rather descent reputation. Sadly it seems that reputation has not followed them to Florida. They offered me a full scholarship with a stipend but for two weeks I couldn't get their office to call me. I honestly feel bad for the school. Maybe it is the catholic in me but I am hoping they succeed. Unfortunately, they probably won't. Oh well there's always notre dame.

Re: Has anyone applied at Ave Maria
There was a period while in Michigan that there were reasons for hope for Ave. They were stealing faculty from top schools like michigan - faculty who were leaders in their fields, but also conservative and very religious and felt a more natural fit at school like Ave. They were leading Michigan schools in bar passage rates with one year at 100% of takers passing it. Then the legal market tanked. Add to that, they thought it would be a good idea to move from MI, a bad legal market where they had made some reputational inroads to one of the worst legal markets where they'd be starting from scratch. A lot of faculty took flight. A lot of students transferred out.
IIRC, the original plan was to add an undergraduate university in Ann Arbor. They couldn't get the area zoned appropriately to expand so instead of having an undergrad institution in Florida and a law school in Michigan, they decided to move the law school down to FL. I believe there was suspicion that folks in Ann Arbor didn't take kindly to the idea of an expanding bastion of conservativism and catholicism in their backyard and fought through the back channels to prevent the zoning initiative to be realized. Now, I think they're in the process of creating a new town in Florda called Ave Maria, Florida where both the undergrad and law school will be placed. Interesting story, I thought.
But yeah - job placements are abysmal. And folks I know who have gone there have felt very uncomfortable unless they were the most catholic of catholic... So if you want a re-affirming catholic-centric education and you don't really care about job prospects, it may be a good option for you. For everybody else, I would do the research and talk to recent grads. Go in with your eyes wide open. If you're uncomfortable with catholic dogma or scripture influencing the class discussions, it probably wouldn't be the right fit.

Re: Has anyone applied at Ave Maria
I have a family member who is catholic, and went to Ave Maria in one of their first years, on a full ride. They did very well there, finished near the top of the class, and got a job in the area that they wanted. They were very happy with the education they got there, and passed two different state bars on the first try. That being said, this was when Ave Maria was in Michigan.

"This summer, only 11 of 23 of its graduates passed the Florida Bar exam. At less than 48 percent, it was the worst result in the state and nearly 20 percentage points behind its closest competitor."
