Has anyone else gotten anything like this? I sent my app out in mid October and got an email from them in January basically telling me they've looked at my application, haven't made a decision, but wanted to send an email just to be courteous and let me know that i am not being ignored or something like that. typical stuff youd see on a waitlist offer like "your application is strong, but we have lots of strong ones, blah blah, we're seriously considering you". HOWEVER, there was no waitlist offer. Just a mention that my application would definitely be re-assessed sometime before April.
Anyone else get something like this? any ideas what it means?

Very helpful, thanks. She mentions that the intention is to try to clarify things for the applicant rather than confuse them, but I think the email is most certainly only doing the latter for almost everyone who receives it.

See also: the roughly 50 page collective freak-out over that email or the absence of that email in the Michigan thread.
