I'm such an idiot! OMG I just sent a LOCI out that I had changed from a previous one and mention the school name several times in the document. I had changed it significantly but kept parts of it and replaced the name of the schools and missed one of the school names. It contains the phrase "XXX is my top choice and if admitted I will definitely attend". I've never been so mad at myself. I recopied the entire email and attached a fixed version and send it as a reply to the first email so hopefully it just looks like it was sent twice on accident and they only view the updated one. I'm afraid to call any attention to it, but should I send a follow up that says something along the lines of disregard the first email, or am I just completely screwed?

I would have sent the second one with a message to disregard the first one. I don't know what to do now.

I believe it is frowned upon to tell more than one school you will definitely go to their school if you are admitted.

I mean, you aren't even making an effort, you are just straight up lying.

Happens fairly often, at least with personal statements. Not sure if the same is true for the optional essays. I would just tell them that you added a previous version of the document, and to please add the updated one.

I didn't use that phrase in the first LOCI. Just in the updated one. Unfortunately, this happened for my top school. And yes 3 acceptances, 1 WL, no rejections yet although I pretty much just guaranteed this one

Honest mistake, sorry about that. You only get one shot at this admissions process, need to quad-check things I guess

I did the same thing last year and was admitted into all the schools LSP said I would be admitted. Don't freak out, happens pretty often. Look at the bright side, if they do accept you, that will be a pretty funny anecdote.

not to be a downer but if i were in the adcomm i'd probably be like, "yeah yeah yeah... let's just make sure he didn't put the wrong school's name".

the adcomm is typically comprised of humans. I would think that the biggest reaction your mistake will elict is a chuckle and a muttering of "poor, dumb bastard." But I really don't think they will give you any less consideration based on just that. If your numbers are good, I wouldn't worry.
