Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2015
Hey guys. Got accepted to Hofstra last week so I'm kind of behind on a bunch of stuff. Can anyone update me on the admitted students days or anything worth noting?

Got my acceptance letter today. 3.1/162.
Does anyone know if scholarship info is mailed or it should be included in the email?

Congrats! It's mailed out separately, you should see "Honors Scholarship Letter" under the Mailings sectionfuturejdgirl wrote:Got my acceptance letter today. 3.1/162.

For those who got decisions already, how long did it take after you went "File with admissions committee" to hear back?

There've already been about 10 people (including myself) on LSN alone that have been accepted off the waitlist.DreamLaw0915 wrote:I'm wait listed at Hofstra! Was wondering if anyone got accepted/rejected from the wait list?!
I'm sure there're others that don't have profiles that have been moved off the waitlist as well.
Good luck!

Thanks, good to know. Besides sending an LOCI, is there anything else I can do?

3/24? I thought it was 3/16-17. It was on the bottom of my acceptance email. I haven't received my acceptance packet though, so maybe the date on the email is wrong.Jimbola wrote:Anybody going to the 3/24 accepted students day?

No my flyer that came with my acceptance packet said 16th-17th. Maybe there are two dates? Anyway, I'm in NYC so I might just hop on the LIRR next weekendargentinaguy9885 wrote:3/24? Oh, I made a mistake. I meant the 17th one. There are a bunch though.

Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2015
I got in with a 3.4 155. After New York Law School, Hofstra is probably my last choice so hopefully I will get into other places but its nice to get an acceptance especially since i waited until the last week in February to send out my applications. I think it is also doubtful I will receive any money but you never know. Hofstra's tuition is ridiculous especially for its ranking but its NY so what are you gonna do. Luckily my aunt and uncle live 15 minutes away so housing is not an issue.
Can anyone give me insight into the school itself. I know the area pretty well but I know next to nothing about the law school so any information would be lovely. Just curious why some of you are going (at sticker price)...

There's a difference in rep between NYLS and Hofstra. Actually, depending on what legal circle you're in, a significant one.oleosmirf wrote:I got in with a 3.4 155. My family's been in the legal field for generations and Hofstra is, at this point, comparable to St. John's.
On the other hand, the people I've met through them seem to compare NYLS with CUNY and Pace.
I know that, in my case, I can rely on my family for a job as an attorney after graduation if I don't land the type of job I want, so I feel secure taking a financial "risk" like paying sticker for a school like Hofstra. If you look at a list of all of the schools that feed into the NY market (outside of the non-NY t14), Hofstra's basically middle-of-the-road in terms of reputation, so it's not a bad way to go if you can stomach the price.
The school's doing pretty well, especially considering that it's relatively young (founded in 1970).
Personally, I went to visit both Hofstra and St. John's before making a decision between the two, and just really liked Hofstra.
I'm going to go see them both one more time before making that absolute final commitment though. I just want to be sure I'm making the right decision for me.
I think a lot of it comes down to personal preference... I'd just go take a tour or head to the ASW to see if it's a good fit.
And hey, if you're really that bitter or reluctant about going to Hofstra, you could always sit out a year, retake the LSAT, and reapply. (Had to! It's tls, after all, lol)

Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2015
I feel like most people on here actually got a scholly (makes since since TLSers seem like the over-achieving bunch :p). I don't know how many schollys they general give out though...I got an annual 25k.oleosmirf wrote:I got in with a 3.4 155.
