Thanks for the info on scholarships. In by email. My numbers are slightly lower than yours, and last year they offered out-of-state tuition waiver. Hopefully they'll offer that and more this year.zx92027xz wrote:Accepted via phone 5 Dec; submitted in September. 160/3.88

I was accepted early December and they called about a scholarship offer at the end of last week. She said they were just getting scholarship letters in the mail. I haven't gotten the official letter yet and I'm in Norman.

So.....no phone call, no letter, but I get an email to set up a OU.edu email account. The email started like this:YankeeFan2 wrote:Just checking in and waiting.......
Congratulations on being admitted to the OU College of Law. As part of being admitted to the OU College of Law you have been assigned a SoonerID as well as an OU.EDU email account.
So, is that the notification? Kind of a let down to be told that way.

I was admitted with $5k/year. I read on the website that once you actually are attending then there is a bigger variety of scholarships that you can be awarded. That's way too uncertain for my taste.

So, got my scholarship information today. Nice surprise to have a grant and then to waive out of state tuition on top of that. It really makes Oklahoma pretty reasonable. Not sure about job prospects coming out of OU -- any 2L's or 3L's want to speak about that? PM me please.YankeeFan2 wrote:Got a call today to tell me I was accepted and that scholarship info would come in a week of so.YankeeFan2 wrote:So.....no phone call, no letter, but I get an email to set up a OU.edu email account. Re: University of Oklahoma c/o 2015 (2011-2012 Cycle)
I considered OU last year and did some research. Job prospects seemed fine to me, but I have lower standards than most here. I'd say first off only, and absolutely only go to OU if you plan on building your career in Oklahoma. There are some from Ark or Tx that go back, but they are few are far between and plus they would have been better served going to Ark U or Tech in the first place. Go to OU if you know you want to work in Oklahoma. For those, there isn't a better school. I think if you are Tulsa person who knows they want to work in the Tulsa area, going to TU isn't a bad choice if you aren't going to into crazy debt or you know you are going the government route. I guess I mention TU because if you go to OU you will definitely compete with TU grads for Tulsa, where you will probably not compete too much with OKC U grads in OKC unless you are just a bad interviewer/can't carry a convo, as OKC U doesn't have a stellar rep in the state.
Job prospects seemed to be comparable to KU, CU, Ark, with adjusted compensation for the COL in the different markets, plus maybe a few more clerkships for CU. Odds are you will graduate, hustle, and find something paying you around 45k-50k. Thats what you get for being an attorney. Do well, and just like every other field you could make loads. All up to you.

Do they have an online tracker? I applied early January and I have no clue where my application stands.

No they don't. But I did find that if I emailed them or called that they were very helpful in letting me know the status of my application.
Hope that helps.

Hello everyone! I've also only ever talked to kind, helpful people at OU law.
That said, I'm getting SOOO much attention from this school, and wanted to ask others on the forum if it was happening to them too. They've got professors e-mailing me, calling me, they found people from my church in the area to talk to me and vouch for them, keep sending me letters....I really do appreciate it, I'd dub them the most helpful, friendly law school in America, and I'm flattered, but I'm getting really overwhelmed! Is this kind of thing happening with anyone else?

I have hear absolutely nothing from OU. I applied in mid January. When should I expect to hear a decision?

I applied in November and heard back a few weeks ago. Maybe things will pick up now that we get more into spring.UNTravis wrote:I have hear absolutely nothing from OU. I applied in mid January. When should I expect to hear a decision?

I agree with Yankee fan. I applied early - like october/early november and got a fast response, but I think it was around the 6 week mark that they quote to applicants. I'd give it around 6 weeks from the date your application went complete, but it might be faster since we are coming into spring now.YankeeFan2 wrote:I applied in November and heard back a few weeks ago.
