I think it comes from lawschoolpredictor.com. There's evidence that it makes splitters look like they have a better chance than they do because it discounts the fact that schools tend to have LSAT and GPA floors, but a really high split can get someone the same index score as two solid above-medians.

Congratulations! Do you think anything in particular stood out about your application? With those numbers, I'm thinking (perhaps naively) maybe the drop in test takers is making Columbia more likely to accept applicants who EDed.

I otherwise might have guessed that there would have been 2muchMath to calculate the index correctly.
