Re: Rutgers-Camden Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
Last year, someone reported as early as 12/3. Others came in on 12/6, 12/9 and so forth. The year before last, the first wave came on 12/10. Hopefully they come even earlier this year. Definitely thinking first week of December though. Has anyone been through the renovated law school? I plan to fly out in January to tour several schools in the area.cph4life wrote:Checking in! I sent in my application and then mailed my certification letter early last week, but have not received any word of them receiving any component of my application. Have any of you had this experience?

IIRC, it took a pretty long time to hear anything from them. And this was in September or early October.Kage3212 wrote:I sent in my application and then mailed my certification letter early last week, but have not received any word of them receiving any component of my application. I sent in the app on 11/1, mailed the application fee check the next day, and went complete around11/7. Good luck guys.
Also, does anyone what's difference between the Newark campus and the Camden campus besides location?

If you truly heard back, hopefully we'll all find out shortly. The wait is killing me. The two schools are nearly identical in every way. RU-N feeds primarily into Newark/North Jersey with a select few breaking into NYC. RU-C is split almost 50/50 between Philadelphia and South Jersey. Camden just built a brand new law school addition and renovated their existing facilities, so its supposed to be pretty nice..at least as nice as it could be in Camden. Unfortunately, Camden also just reported a $50,000 drop in starting private practice salaries from $115,000 to $65,000. Newark is holding strong at $135,000, but that might not be as accurate you would think.LAFish wrote:I sent in the app on 11/1, mailed the application fee check the next day, and went complete around11/7. Thanks for the information mrtoren. I'm still waiting to hear back from Newark and I think I'd prefer Newark over Camden.mrtoren wrote:If you truly heard back, hopefully we'll all find out shortly. I got $8,000 a year but need a 3.5 to keep it. Seems like a high stip.

Newark definitely seems more generous with scholarships. The choice between the two schools really boils down to which legal market (Philly vs. NYC) you'd prefer to have a crack at.neeko wrote:I got 18K from Newark with a 3.0 stip.

I'm going to go visit both. Does anyone know if they will negotiate away the stips? I'm excited!

Re: Rutgers-Camden Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
Not sure, but I doubt you'd get a lot of wiggle room. Both schools charge a very low tuition rate (for in-state students) and allow pretty much anyone to get in-state status going into their first year. Because of this, they probably don't feel the need to be overly generous when it comes to scholarship stips.neeko wrote:I'm going to go visit both. Best of luck though, hope I'm wrong! Lol

Re: Rutgers-Camden Class of 2015 (2011-2012 cycle)
I can see that being a reason to not give large scholarships, but it's pretty irrelevant to the stipulations. And Camden does not allow you to get in state your first year, only Newark. Camden is years 2 and 3.bobbyh1919 wrote:Not sure, but I doubt you'd get a lot of wiggle room.
