Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
Just letting you guys know that Hastings is known for being really slow with getting back to you. I applied in October (RD) and heard back in late February, which was early for them. I think most people in the thread last year heard back in March. So if you don't hear anything for a while, it isn't necessarily bad news at all. That being said, some acceptances should start to trickle out now that school is starting back up again this Monday. Good luck!

Thanks for letting us know, ilovesf! March seems so far away...but if it's good news, I suppose it'll all be worth it!

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
I submitted my deposit today, and withdrew from the other schools I applied to. I am officially onboard!
The $150 ED deposit is the only one we need to send, right? Or do ED applicants also need to submit the $500 regular deposit as well?

Looking at LSN and the TLS thread from last year, I think we might be seeing some movement soon.

Good. Hastings is the only school that hasn't sent me an email or anything. Every other school has.mufcfan wrote:Looking at LSN and the TLS thread from last year, I think we might be seeing some movement soon.

Hastings called me and asked if I would like to apply through the LEOP. I declined. I'd like to think that one of you who are interested in the program will be admitted instead

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
You are right. Hastings sent out an e-mail today confirming that was the only deposit needed for the Early Commitment Option (ECO) applicants.
I sent in my deposit a while ago, so I am guessing that they waited until the first business day after the deadline to message everyone at once. I wonder how many people were accepted (and sent in their deposits) from the ECO batch.
Since they are done with the ECO guys now, I would imagine that they will start letting the regular applicants know if they have been accepted. Last year they had been letting people know since January 10th.

Does Hastings have a status checker? I received my complete email but there was no mention of that in there.

I received two emails (one on the 13th and one today) informing me that the application is complete. Same email too. Not sure why.

I'm pretty sure this is the first round of anyone who has heard anything. I wouldn't be worried quite yet.paulshortys10 wrote:what in the hell...I wonder why I haven't heard shit from them

Re: Hastings 2011-2012 Cycle
in via phone call from dean of admissions last night! i kinda only applied to hastings as a back up in case i decided i wanted to stay in san francisco (born and raised in the bay area, lived in SF proper for the past 7 years or so), but the more i look at the school, the more appealing it has become. i have heard they don't give much in the way of scholarship money, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed for something. have a couple of nice scholarships from some decent schools, but not sure if i want to relocate to the east coast yet. any 1Ls know if hastings will negotiate?
for what it's worth...164/3.63.

I spoke with Hastings admissions yesterday, as I'm contemplating throwing an app their way. He said, unsurprisingly, that he couldn't discuss my chances at a scholarship, as a matter of policy. He also said that they do give some scholarships but, at most, this amounts to half tuition. I would apply if I could get a fee waiver, but they won't give me one. Already safely in at Northwestern so I would only consider Hastings if I got a half-ride, but I'm an extreme splitter so I do not think it is likely. Probably just going to save the $80.
Complete conjecture: with your numbers, you might get a scholarship, but it wouldn't be close to the half-ride maximum.
