Hmm... Good to know. I guess they're not really in full admissions mode yet.neeko wrote:It took a little while to get the checker but they do have one.Opie wrote:Here's a question for you folks: I got the received email from Chris Miller on the 14th and haven't heard anything since. Still no checker. Anyone else heard anything from Drake? I mailed my scholly form off Thursday, so I thought maybe seeing that would jump start them. I'm really surprised it is taking this long. I have spent a lot of time talking with Andrew, even emailing with him about non-admissions subjects. My numbers are also way over theirs, and I share a name with a building on campus.

Submitted on Oct. 28th, got my status checker on Nov. 8, and received my application complete notification on Nov. 10. Still haven't heard anything though.

It took them a while--like, two or three weeks iirc--for them to get their status checker to me. If you're really concerned about the status checker, specifically, I'd say call or email admissions and ask about it.Opie wrote:Still no checker. Anyone else heard anything from Drake? Shred: I wish I could tell you how long my application was complete before I received my acceptance, but...since I thought I wouldn't get a decision until January...I didn't really pay any attention to my status checker at all, until I got the acceptance package.

In other news, I got a letter from the Dean. I'm assuming it was a form letter, but it was a really nice form letter, so I'm accepting it as a nice stroke to my ego. ^_^

It was a lot of BLAH BLAH BLAH YOU'RE AWESOME BLAH BLAH DES MOINES BLAH DRAKE GO TO LAW SCHOOL HERE K. In all srsness, it was a "congrats on being accepted brah," basically. "accomplished and promising applicant," "exceptional applicant with strong academic promise and potential for leadership and service," and the rest was bragging about Drake's location, programs, come visit us, we're awesome, etc.
Also: I'm planning on applying for the Diversity/Disadvantaged and Public Interest scholarships...anyone else applying for these?

I might shoot for the disadvantage one. I'm a non-trad though and I don't feel that disadvantaged now that I'm older. No PI for me though. I want to do employment discrimination and wrongful termination litigation.

Maybe just apply for it for shits and giggles? My DS touched upon both diversity (obviously) and how my ethnic background brought me a decent amount of disadvantage, so I'm not going to attach any supplementary essay. Maybe you could spin the discrimination into a PI topic? Just a suggestion :3 My background is all PI, all the time, so I'm defffff gonna apply for that one.

Did the words about 4-6 weeks across the top of the checker disappear for anyone else? My date changed to 11/28

I think they disappeared on mine once my status checker changed to "decision rendered," but I didn't pay much attention to my status checker, so I couldn't tell you for sure. Maybe they're looking at your app now? I don't know if they use the "under review"/"in review" on their status checkers...neeko wrote:I wonder what it means when they disappear with no decision rendered.vpintz wrote:I think they disappeared on mine once my status checker changed to "decision rendered," but I didn't pay much attention to my status checker, so I couldn't tell you for sure. That would be nice! So it will switch to decision rendered, and then you wait for USPS to know what it is?

Re: Drake c/o 2015 applicants
Hello all,
I'm 1L at Drake and spent a lot of time on here last year around this time, so I know how you're all feeling. Thought I would hop on and check out the Drake thread as a break from studying (7 straight hours after classes yesterday; 5 today with probably another hour before bed, hope you're looking forward to that).
I'm from DSM originally with undergrad at Drake and think strongly of the Des Moines area and am growing to love Drake. If you have any questions about the area or Drake in particular I'd be happy to help. No promises on timely responses as I've had a tendency to disappear from the face of the earth lately for undermined amounts of time.
Probably can't give you much guidance on chances of admission, your guess is as good as mine. But like I said if you have DSM or Drake Law School specific questions I will answer at some point.
I will echo that the Dean is a cool guy, very accessible, rocks the bow tie. He had lunch with all 1Ls in small groups of 5-10 where he asked a lot of questions, attempted to calm our fears, and told us about himself and the direction the Law School will be going into the near future.
To give some guidance to your guessing on admission: I was 161/3.76. Accepted to Iowa - No money; Accepted to Drake - solid scholarship. Solid enough to lure me away from Iowa which was tough because I'm a die hard Hawkeye, but money talks and I've been very happy with my decision.
Good luck to all of you in your application processes.

Re: Drake c/o 2015 applicants
Still waiting around with no changes. Vpintz, when did you submit? Are your numbers particularly strong for Drake? I have a feeling that they only review the strongest apps before late December and I'd like to confirm that. My numbers are pretty decent for Drake, but I'd like to start my decision process as I'm already in at Iowa. I'm 164/3.57 and from Des Moines, so I'm sure I'll get it. It's more a question of money.
Mauer7, I know that one Opperman has already been offered according to LSN. Do you know the numbers of people who have actually TAKEN the Opperman? It doesn't look like the one on LSN will accept it as they are already in at GULC and Duke.
