I think I'm looking at the same thing, and I've heard they don't negotiate well. I would be totally fine with 20k a year, maybe even 15, if it wasn't for that crazy stip. I might go there with 15k a year and a good standing stip, but I'm not risking paying 42k a year for DePaul...

Can you negotiate the stip? I guess it makes sense but it seems like you're saying, 'welll, I'm kind of lazy and don't think I'll keep a 3.2'

I'm more concerned about the money going up, but it'd be nice if they lowered the stip to 3.0.

That's not it at all. 3.2 is apparently around top 30%. Obviously I am going to do everything I can to be as high as I can in my class, but they are sending this money out to almost everyone with that stip. That means that most people will lose it. Considering their insane tuition for being the 5th highest ranking school in Chicago, I think its pretty weak. Even a 3.0 stip can be scary when the curve is set at less than that. I would much rather get a bit less money and be sure that it will be there for 3 years.

Everyone thinks that they will be at the top, but most aren't. and 42k a year plus Chicago COL is a lot of money for a school like DePaul...

My philosophy is that if you can't be in the top half at DePaul than your job prospects are going to be not worth the 3 years of effort anyway.. And it does look like they are giving this offer to just about everyone, so I think as an extreme splitter I'm going to try to coax my way into getting more. :P

In and just received my admissions packet in the mail. 60K with a 2.3 stip. Not bad considering some of you have mentioned a 3.3 stip.

Good luck everyone!

You're sure it's not a 3.2 stip? I'm pretty sure that's what all of us on here got.

Positive. It states that I must maintain a cumulative 2.30 each year.

Yes I am a URM. They offered me the Achievement Scholarship. Did you receive the same one? An additional diversity scholarship would have been amazing though! Hope that helps.

Got the packet today. 15k a year, 3.2 to keep, 2.9 for half. Really not good enough considering this place's insaaaane tuition, and the fact that its the 5th ranked school in Chicago. Withdrawing. Good luck to the rest of you.

3.55, 158. Nothing great, but I've gotten a lot more money with better stips at comparable schools. I dont want to risk paying 42k for my 2L and 3L years...

I got my 20k per year offer with 3.2 stipulation. I'm not even sure how I feel about it.

15k a year with a 3.2 stip. I received my acceptance about 2 weeks after my application was finalized. Still waiting on other schools though, so I probably won't be going to DePaul.

I got my packet today (accepted on 2/2). I received $15k with a 3.2 stip. Not the best, but hoping it may help with some leverage elsewhere.

Hey Everyone! New to the forums and looking through the admit info for this year. I applied 1/10 (didn't do so hot on my first LSAT so waited to apply until I got the results from the Dec test) got accepted on 2/2 and received the packet/scholly info via snail-mail 2/11. My stats are a 2.37/159 also have my Masters. The scholly is for 24k/3 years with 3.2 stip, not even close to what others have been offered, but I'm taking it!

I love Chicago and it's close(ish) to home(Ohio) which was the main selling point for me along with the family law clinic and certificate. I'll be attending the admitted student program on March 31st. Anyone else going to be there?

You are braver than me...

I got 45/3 years with that stip and am not going near it. That stip is horrifying. But hey, do your best. I did really like the school when I visited it. Good luck.

The stip is pretty serious and I've read on other posts that section stacking is common. So I will be honest and say it makes me a bit nervous. However my only other scholly offer was 36/3 from NYLS, and while Chicago is expensive, the COL in NYC and surrounding area made my head spin. Honestly, I'd have paid full sticker, it's a great location, a big city, has great options for family law and I finally get snow during Christmas again(I've been in GA for the last 2.5 years). Good luck to you wherever you decide to go.

THey put everyone with scholarships in one of their 3 class sections, each section is curved to 3.0. i.e. MORE of the people will lose their money than if it was jsut spread evenly. So it is even more intense competition

Depending on what the scholly packet looks like, definitely considering this as an option. Anyone heard what is the most price efficient living quarters in the Chi? Like the previous two posters, also an Ohio native.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
