For those who can't log into LSN

Post by horrorbusiness » Mon Nov 07, 2011 8:26 pm

Mods, go ahead and move or delete this if you think that's appropriate. I just noticed that a few people are having trouble with this.

Here's a workaround. I noticed that while using firefox I get a problem with "sessions" and can't log in. But LSN works fine on my smartphone's browser for some reason. So, rather than using my phone to access LSN or downloading another browser, I found user agent switcher add-on for firefox:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... -switcher/

here's a chrome add-on that does the same thing:

http://spoofer-extension.appspot.com/

tldr:it's your computer, not LSN. use a different browser, or download a user agent switcher add-on that makes your browser be recognized as a different browser.

I'm sorry, I'm completely computer retarded and I don't understand what I need to do to make this work. I use chrome, so I went to the link, changed the settings for the extension, downloaded it, restarted chrome. Now what? is there anything else I need to do or should this be enough? I tried logging in again and it still isn't working...

Sorry, probably should have clarified. The user agent switcher makes your browser be recognized as another, so you need to switch it to a browser that does work with LSN. I'm pretending to be Internet Explorer 8. So you'll have to go in the add-on's settings somewhere and specify IE8 or another working browser. I'm not using chrome so I don't know the details of that other add-on. If worst comes to worst, downloading IE8 and using it should work.

So now I'm completely locked out. I've sent 2-3 emails now, and nothing. I wish they'd just log everyone out on their end so that this could be resolved while they fix the problem in a more permanent way. Looking at other threads, it looks like this problem has been going on for years.

I could probably use another browser... until that breaks, too. I just wish they'd fix it.
Yikes. Well, isn't there a virtually endless amount of "users" that the agent switcher can cycle through?

edit: if you import this file into the user agent switcher, you'll have another 100+ agents to switch through. should be sufficient.

(click #2, "Download via Save As File Dialogue", and import that file through the user agent switcher settings [edit user agents -> import])

So how do I pretend to be IE8 or etc etc though? I went to Options >> Extensions >> User-Agent Switcher but now I have no idea what to do.

Luckily I have IE on this computer already, so I'll just try that one, but if anyone who knows anything about Chrome wants to help me, that'd be great.
