Re: University of San Diego 2015
Anyone have any idea how to contest the scholarship offers. USD is absolutely ridiculous giving me a 1 year 18K scholarship when I have top 30s giving me 21K/yr renewable with OK stips. What should I include in my petition (aside from the other offers I've received) thank you.

I just sent the admissions office an email saying how cost was a major factor in my final decision and if there was any way to make the cost of attendance lower....and i attached copies of my other offers from higher ranked schools...they got back to me in a few days with a new offercobsss wrote:Anyone have any idea how to contest the scholarship offers. I did this with lower ranked schools that gave me good offers (I was hoping to pull at least some money from USD) and USD said sorry, have fun with sticker price

My app has been complete since 11/23. No movement from them at all... and it's the last school I'm waiting on! So don't be worried if you just went complete in March.

Re: University of San Diego 2015
I did! The campus is GORGEOUS and the students and faculty are super nice and actually seem quite happy, which seemed a little unusual from other schools. Financial aid was very helpful and blunt, and said that as of right now, they had no additional scholarship money to divvy among students. Bummer! Although I could see myself being happy and doing well at USD, the cost w/o scholarships just seems like an unwise business-mined investment decision. That said, if I even had a scholarship of 18k/yr like many of you do, I would absolutely attend because I loved the atmosphere. The head of financial aid actually said they extend more offers of scholarship $ than the amount of $ they actually have, because they know many people will go other places. More $ MAY become available down the road and there ARE other opportunities as a 2L & 3L, but that's the status right now, until they receive or don't receive second deposits. I'll be attending law school out of state, but hope to practice in the area someday. Hope that helps if any of you were wondering about that!

I was really pissed on how the head financial aid guy talked about how they only give money to the good LSAC indexed candidates, and that it was such a good indicator of who will do well... Here I am looking at sticker price basically being told I have less of a chance at doing well than the girl next to me who got a full ride. Other than that, the school was nice. Still tho, it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Re: University of San Diego 2015
Why would that piss you off? All schools give merit scholarships based on the index created from GPA/LSAT numbers. It's also been documented year after year that higher LSAT generally means a better chance of doing well in 1L year.darkatillam2 wrote:I was really pissed on how the head financial aid guy talked about how they only give money to the good LSAC indexed candidates, and that it was such a good indicator of who will do well... He was very blunt, but I appreciated their honesty. Was just offered $7500. That would cover rent for about 8 months, haha. Oh well.darkatillam2 wrote:legalsinger wrote:I did!
