got scholarship info today. Dean's Honor Scholarship for 39k per year. Couldn't be more excited! Happy to answer questions about my application. Good luck to everyone.

Got my scholarship last week, but it seems that it's only for the first year. Did anyone else get one of these? Anyone have any thoughts? Should I try and negotiate to make it a 3 yr scholarship?

It doesn't even seem to have any "grades permitting", etc.

makes no sense why they would only give anyone a 1 year scholarship.

I thought the same thing! I think I'll follow up and ask them... I've never heard of a 1 year scholarship

What exactly does your letter say that makes you think it's only for one year?

Just re-read it again. 99% sure it's only for one year. It says something about it being for the first year and it will be distributed evenly between semesters. It goes on to say that after your first year, you can apply for different scholarships, etc. I don't really want to put the exact wording on here but it seems like it is only for the first year. Nothing about grade stipulation, etc. Just after your first year you can apply for more scholarships.

Mine explicitly mentioned 2nd and 3rd years, as well as the grade stipulation. I've never heard of a 1 year scholarship either but I'm speculating that that's what your letter meant.

If I were you, I'd notify them of offers from other schools and try and get them to extend your scholarship offer to cover all three years. It's definitely worth the shot.

Submitted 12/12. Accepted via mail 1/11. Scholarship info came on 1/21, Dean's Honors Scholarship, $39k/year. 165/3.98, LGBT, weaker softs. Makes it hard to turn that kind of offer down!
