Re: Texas Tech 2012
Has anyone heard whether or not Texas Tech offers any sort of travel stipend. I really want to visit, as Tech is slowly creeping up to the top of my list, but it's a long and expensive trip.

I got an email saying they'll just give you a $300 credit towards your second deposit. It may be different for others though.JerichoJohnny wrote:Has anyone heard whether or not Texas Tech offers any sort of travel stipend. I got that email too. Sounds like a good deal, but I could use some funds to get out there too. It's an 18 hour drive, and flight's don't seem to be lower than $700 and that's IF I fly out of Atlanta and not my local regional hub. Kind of out of my price range at the moment.mtyler19 wrote:I got an email saying they'll just give you a $300 credit towards your second deposit. This is still kind of expensive and probably not worth it because it sounds like a huge pain in the ass, but if you flew through Spirit airlines to Dallas, then Southwest to Lubbock it'd be about $250. I found some through just Southwest for about $400. That was through switching the dates around though if you did really want to go.JerichoJohnny wrote:I got that email too. Ok, so my status checker now says "Decision Made" after a very long wait. However, there is just "0.00" for the payments. Does this mean I have been rejected?

My current status is the same too. It says decision made, but 0.0 under fees...

Re: Texas Tech 2012
I emailed their admissions office, with no reply. One of my friends that got in noticed the change to "decision made" a week or so ago (it changed at midnight like most of them), but she had fees on hers. She also got the acceptance email at 10am the next morning. Unfortunately, it looks like we may not have gotten in Good luck though!!! I'll update this when I get a definitive answer.hk54 wrote:My current status is the same too. It says decision made, but 0.0 under fees...

Does anyone know when (aproximately) to expect decisions regarding SEP candidates? I'm assuming that this won't become a priority until the class is finalized. Anyways, just wondering. Good luck to everyone!

My status now says "Decision-Denied" on the online status checker. I suggest you login and check yours again. Good luck with everything!

Re: Texas Tech 2012
i'd encourage everyone that is still unsure about Tech to come to ASW, especially if you are unfamiliar with lubbock. I went during my cycle, and it made my decision to matriculate a lot easier. I had a decent scholarship, so I got to do a little bit more (not sure if they are still doing it, but when i was deciding, they had a dinner with the faculty for scholarship recipients, which was very nice). If you are unfamiliar (or unsure) about the city, it would be a great opportunity to explore and discover that it isn't that bad, with people in the same boat as you and who will possibly be your future classmates.Jwb0711 wrote:Who all is going to ASD/W for sure?

Just got an email about a change to my financial aid award saying I need to log in to see it. I've never gotten anything with log in information and apparently you need an activation code for it. ?????

I just withdrew. KU made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It's a little closer to home, and is in a region I'm more familiar with.
I hope my spot goes to someone on the WL. Tech is all class -- I came away very impressed with the school and the community! Good luck everyone!

I feel exactly the same way. I have not withdrawn yet but likely will in the next few days. I was accepted to my local Tier II State School which is what I wanted all along. Even so, Texas Tech went from a virtual unknown to a solid and impressive contender in my mind during these past few months. Great job Texas Tech admissions folks!ineptimusprime wrote:I just withdrew. KU made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It's a little closer to home, and is in a region I'm more familiar with.

Thanks

Loud, overrun with undergrads (I'd be surprised if more than 5% of residents aren't undergrads), and run-down (wear and tear from undergrads not taking care of their rooms)thewaterlanding wrote:To current Tech Law Students, How are the University Trails apartments? Some positives I could see would be that it is close to some restaurants, bars, and the football stadium.
Bottom line: you can find a lot better and more suitable place for a law student, for a cheaper price
