Under review. Completed 10/12

I emailed an admissions officer today and she said that they would be sending scholarship information "in the very near future"

I've been trying to get a fee waiver for almost a month now lol but apparently they had been sending it to the wrong email. Got it this morning and sent in my application. Strongly considering LSU for law school... about 90% sure I want to practice in Louisiana

How did you get the fee waiver for LSU?? I keep getting so many emails from other schools for fee waivers, but none for LSU (which is where I'm hoping to get into).theduffman wrote:I've been trying to get a fee waiver for almost a month now lol but apparently they had been sending it to the wrong email. I emailed them for a waiver. It was a hassle though. It took about 2 weeks for them to respond, but then I wasn't sent the code for the waiver. Then I waited more and over a month later I got the fee waiver. Took a while, but it was worth it because it was free and I got in!
Just email admissions.
Just email admissions.

I went to the Houston LSAC forum and talked to the dean of admissions. Emailed him afterwards and a few weeks later (after some back and forth and miscommunication) I finally got it. I understand - I've gotten a ton of fee waivers as well but I would definitely jump through hoops for LSUtaguil2 wrote:How did you get the fee waiver for LSU?? Same as stingray. In via email and still waiting on the other info. Completed in early Sept, didn't hear anything from them, then all the sudden the acceptance email.

Applied in late October, received my admission package by mail yesterday. Still waiting on scholarship information. Does anyone have a feel for LSU's general timeline on scholarships?
EDIT: Also, it is the only place where I applied. Was that a bad idea?

1. They told me that they review regularly and I should receive information "soon". Whether "soon" means in a week or in 2 months, I don't know.
2. Probably not good that it is the only place you applied. You got in, which is great, but you don't get to compare offers with other schools. If you want to practice in LA, maybe apply to Tulane or possibly Loyola (though its ranking is terrible)

Got my admission packet in the mail today. It just had general info about deposits and the like. No scholarship info yet. Just hoping for an out-of-state tuition waiver.

I mean, if you have a 3.7 and a 167, then you had a shot at the T20, but if you just want to practice in Louisiana that's fine - I applied to a ton of schools but high likelihood I end up at LSU (especially if they give me some good scholly $$).DrDingus wrote:Applied in late October, received my admission package by mail yesterday. Re: LSU c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I'm really not interested in practicing outside of Louisiana. I've heard some chatter about "negotiating" with regard to scholarships, but something tells me no part of academia really works that way.theduffman wrote:I mean, if you have a 3.7 and a 167, then you had a shot at the T20, but if you just want to practice in Louisiana that's fine - I applied to a ton of schools but high likelihood I end up at LSU (especially if they give me some good scholly $$).DrDingus wrote:Applied in late October, received my admission package by mail yesterday. Thanks for the take.
Also, just read the rules and I'm guessing I should take these inquiries to another forum. Duly noted.

Does anyone know what to do in order to submit grades from the fall semester after you have already submitted your application?
(e.g. in event of waitlist)
Does it go through LSAC or is it to be mailed directly to LSU Law?

I think you can send it directly to LSU, but I'm not positive.

Just got my scholarship letter in the mail, postmarked Dec. 20. Got a full tuition and I'm surprised and pleased, needless to say.
Anyone else get something today? And does anyone know anything about FAFSA if you still have a semester of TOPS left?

Congrats. I didn't get anything yet, but hopefully it'll come in soon. When did you finish your app?
If your good enough to get a full ride for LSU I still think you should apply to Tulane in New Orleans.

Thanks. According to the status checker, it went complete on Oct. 26, so I guess that's considered relatively early?cutecarmel wrote:Congrats. I didn't get anything yet, but hopefully it'll come in soon. When did you finish your app?

I really would like to stay in New Orleans (from Metairie) but even if I were to get a half tuition at Tulane (unlikely) I feel LSU has to be a better value. Trying to avoid loans if at all possible.

Good point!
I got a full ride too (postmarked on the 20th also)! Maybe I'll be seeing you at LSU this Fall.
