Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
They are pretty splitter friendly. When I applied I was a pretty big reverse splitter, and they let me in. Also, all that stuff you hear about people can't get into UNC that went to undergrad at UNC is a crock. A lot of people in my class went to UNC as undergrads.dstars823 wrote:how splitter friendly is UNC? being an alum ive heard that its almost held against you to have gone undergrad there and then applying to UNC

let me just say I am beyond surprised that you heard before the holidays. That is a pretty big deal. I was in one of the very first groups to hear back last cycle and I heard late Jan/early Feb. Almost all of my classmates did not hear back until much later.auburnbelle89 wrote:163/4.0; average softs. I never went under review on my status checker. OOS, so I am really shocked to get this so early. No mention of when they are sending scholarship info.

Hmm, yeah I've got a 165 LSAT and 3.31 GPA, so I guess I'm a bit of a splitter, but I'm hoping I wasn't too late in the cycle. Just applied after getting my December LSAT scores.
I got my Master's at UNC too, for what it's worth.

Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I just came across this thread, and with UNC being my outright #1 choice, I figured I would say hello to everyone. Good luck to everyone that has applied thus far!
Just to share some information regarding my experience with the application process:
- Applied November 11 - Went complete November 15
- Have been on status checker since November 15, with no change to the status "Application complete, ready for review"
After doing some research (like many of you have done), I found that UNC was very slow with their decisions process last year...and I also learned that they WL a ton of people. I am a "splitter", myself, so I'm just crossing my fingers that I'll be accepted...

How long did it take you guys to receive your status checker? I applied around the second of January and I still have not received my status checker for UNC.

I got mine the next day. Search your email (and check spam), if you don't have it, send them an email asking them to resend it.sdphill wrote:How long did it take you guys to receive your status checker? I applied around the second of January and I still have not received my status checker for UNC.

Hey guys,
Anyone planning on visiting soon? If so, PM me! I and I'm sure a number of other law students would be happy to show you around and even take you out on Franklin/Carrboro.

I realized after posting my last thing that my avatar is kind of creepy. It's not me, it's Ben Folds. Who is, incidentally, kind of creepy. Just in case you were looking at my avatar thinking, "No way, I'm not going to Franklin with him, he'll make a messenger bag out of my skin."
Anyway, congrats to the people who already got in. Pick UNC, you won't regret it!

Hahaha, that's great. I already visited UNC back in November, though. I live in Raleigh, so if I head over to Chapel Hill any time soon I'll shoot you a PM.YouDontKnowMe wrote:I realized after posting my last thing that my avatar is kind of creepy. Anyone know when the next batch of decisions for UNC is likely to come out? Do they tend to focus on in-state students before moving on to out-of-state, or are the decisions mixed?

Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hey All:
I sent my application in as soon as I got my LSAT score back from December's test. I was already accepted into W&L an am worried that UNC will be too slow to respond leaving me no chance to get in.
Can someone kind of give me a ballpark of when acceptances roll out.
Im praying before April...
Congrats to all who have made it in already.
UNC is my top choice as well

Here's a chart for the '09-'10 cycle. Things are probably different this year, but it should give you a rough approximation of what to expect.RaiderBlue17 wrote:Hey All:

UNC is, by most accounts, slower than other schools. It's a small, yet agonizing, price to pay for the privilege of attending law school in Chapel Hill.
Good luck.
ETA: W&L's first deposit isn't due until May 1st. I'm pretty sure you'll hear something from UNC by then.

Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Does anyone have a UNC application under review? I applied in Nov and my status has been "complete and ready for review" for almost 3 months. I know that UNC is considered slow in the decision process, but this seems an extraordinarily long time just to get an app on someone's desk to look at it.
