Yeah that's exactly how I felt about it. Someone did say that Fordham only offers 25k, a handful of full-rides and nothing else so I guess they just didn't think I was worth their 25k. No way staying in NY is worth the extra 75 unless it's NYU.dingbat wrote:I'm surprised you got nothing. When I contacted them they said it wasn't ranked and that they will re-review files after they start figuring out seat numbers from the initial acceptances.mcdeeremitch wrote:Does anyone know how fordham's waitlist works...do go through numerically starting with their first waitlist ..or do they have a ranking system?

How did they see you deposited at Fordham? Is there like a deposit database schools share? Is it illegal to deposit at more than once place?JenDarby wrote:I will say this on the subject: I was deposited at WUSTL, and when I made it off the Fordham WL I had a short deadline so I just deposited here as well.mcdeeremitch wrote:Is anyone depositing at other schools and still riding out the fordham waitlist....my more than likely top choice outside of Fordham has a deposit due on 4/15..so I'm thinking I'll probably deposit then take the loss on it if I make it off the waitlist
I never solicited more money from WUSTL, and when they saw I deposited at Fordham they sent me an email and gave me 15k more.
Also, some schools WILL let you extend a deposit deadline. It's no worse than giving you more money to get you to go there if they want your numbers.

The scholarships are nearly always 5k-25k a year (plenty of people get 75k total). I'm surprised you haven't received anything though.BigBlueLaw wrote:Yeah that's exactly how I felt about it. To the current Fordham students in this thread, how far is too far to comfortably commute to school every day? Where do most of the students live that do not live in the dorms?

Many students have long commutes. My friend commutes from CT with no problem. I live very close on the UWS, but I'm looking to move farther so I can have a bigger place. Commute REALLY isn't an issue. The one thing you want to be sure of is that you're near a convenient subway, then you're golden.cts2012 wrote:To the current Fordham students in this thread, how far is too far to comfortably commute to school every day? How long did it take for you guys to get your status checkers? I sent my application over a month ago and still haven't received it.

I think you should email the admissions office about this. Perhaps something went wrong with the transmission?Tobacco Road wrote:How long did it take for you guys to get your status checkers? I sent my application over a month ago and still haven't received it.

Waitlisted student here. I went to admissions on Friday and talked to someone and they were pretty upfront. She said it's not ranked, they pull people off by what their class needs are to "keep things balanced." I'm kinda guessing that means if an applicant withdraws, they'll pull someone off the waiting list who mot resembles that candidate but don't quote me on that. She also told me that they probably were not going to be reviewing the waitlist again until after the deposit deadline, but that it would be okay to check in with her EVERY NOW AND THEN to see if there were any changes. (then told me a story about how some girl had annoyed her by stalking and calling every day. big n-no).
I asked her if I should think about retaking my LSAT or anything and she said she didn't see a need for that. She said some students do but it usually doesn't make too great of a difference.
She also told me that in the past, Fordham has had a reputation of letting people know they are off the waitlist at inconvenient times (ie: late in the summer, right before another school's orientation, after the time when leases for apartments in different areas have been signed, etc.), and that because of this, coupled with the fact that they can't really give students too much money, not every person on the waitlist is going to come. I've been accepted to 2 other schools, but Fordham's kinda my top choice so I think I'd probably leave my other school's orientation as soon as I got the email (even though I'd most likely be in DC), but that's just me.
At this point, I have sent in my LOCI, went to talk to admissions, (WHICH THEY REALLY RECOMMEND BY THE WAY. EVEN IF YOU CAN GET ALL THE ANSERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS FROM TLS, GOING IN AND TALKNG TO HEM REAFFIRMS THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED AND THEY REALLY LIKE THAT), gone on a tour, and I have 2 additional recommendations from Fordham alum on the way (one a judge, one a sp). She told me at this point, I've done all that I can do. Now its just a waiting game until the start reviewing again.
I hope this helps.

Do you guys think it will be possible to visit the school this week and speak with an admissions counselor even though they are in break?
I'm going to be in NYC this week and really want to visit

First day of classes should be 9/4 and mandatory week long orientation for 1Ls would start 8/27. (you can skip parts, but you "have" to be there for most of it)confusedlaw wrote:any know when the first day ofclasses
