Wow, with you other URMs getting held with similar/better stats I only feel more lucky to have gotten not only the admission but the 75% tuition scholarship. I am really considering UIUC now. 162 3.55 MA

hopefully, many people withdraw. I would really like to go here.
i really need to get an acceptance from somewhere else right now to get this bad taste out of my mouth.

Re: UIUC 2015
also held. Damn. I feel so close though. It must be based on application stuff because everyone ive seen here should be in numbers wise. Illinois is my first choice. What should I do telling them that? I cannot attend if no money, but even just 25% and I will go. Should I tell them that? I'm going into full campaign mode with this. Will not be shut out of t-1 >[

+2. That ain't gonna cut it, Illinois!chem wrote:+1. This sounds snobby, but on the heels of UVA acceptance it seems a little... low. But I don't knowCornelius wrote:In with 25% tuition, about $11,000. Last year my numbers would have garnered about twice that.

Did everyone who was not admitted on Friday receive a hold e-mail?
I am basically wondering if there are some people who have heard nothing.

Re: UIUC 2015
Just by judging some graphs I saw and the posts in this thread, it seems like they send out acceptances, holds, waitlists, rejected in that order.tennisballs wrote:Did everyone who was not admitted on Friday receive a hold e-mail?

I haven't heard anything but I just recently submitted.

Looking at LSN, it looks like the majority of their accepted applicants fall between 159-167 LSAT... I'm hoping they'll accept me and my mediocre GPA and 171 LSAT. They should want to bump up their median LSAT number you'd think because it is looking like it'll be somewhat mediocre.

Re: UIUC 2015
So I was held. I am an AA male with a 3.4 and 167. This much we know. But why wasn't this guy, at least held or rejected?

My LSAT score is just shy of being 20 points higher than his. I mean no disrespect to him (if he reads this) I am happy for him, and I refuse to think of this as a zero sum game, but my gosh, I don't understand.

Maybe UIUC assumed you were going better places? (and I think you definitely will)Bmarce wrote:So I was held. I am an AA male with a 3.4 and 167. This much we know. But why wasn't this guy, at least held or rejected?

Considering the advantage you have, you could probably go to most top 14's with those numbers so maybe Illinois is assuming you were just muddy-ing the waters, no disrespect intended.Bmarce wrote:So I was held. Re: UIUC 2015
Nope, I wrote no special addenda. I realize that I can expect to get acceptances from higher ranked schools (I have already been accepted at Georgetown) its just that I was planning on getting a big scholarship offer from a school in the 20's. I would rather attend a mid 20's school with minimal debt than a t-14 school at sticker. But this cycle seems so weird, the schools that were giving out massive amounts last year have changed up. I am expecting to get into Bloomington, but it seems that they have cut back drastically on the scholarship offers, I was expecting to get into UIUC but I have been held. So lol, the best laid plans go to waste I guess.Worker and Parasite wrote:Maybe UIUC assumed you were going better places? (and I think you definitely will)Bmarce wrote:So I was held. Re: UIUC 2015
Best of luck to you. The one thing I've noticed about URM's is that it makes it very unpredictable for them. Sometimes the help they get is absurd and way over the top and sometimes they don't get any, even from the same school.Bmarce wrote:Nope, I wrote no special addenda. I will be withdrawing soon as well...after I figure out a proper way to write the letter.
