Congrats to you all. As for scholly negotiation, my friend Bport is spot on. I did the same thing, expressed my interest and got a few more K's. Just keep at it.

I was offered the Dean's scholarship at 8k. Can I negotiate for more? If so, how? I never negotiated for scholarship money/ FA before, and would appreciate any insight. Congrats to all who got in!

Congrats on the scholly. You can certainly try to negotiate for more, but you will need some leverage. Have you received scholarships at any other comparable schools? If so, use those and e-mail Pitt letting them know the amount and school offering the scholarship. Mention that pitt is your top choice but money is a big factor in decision making etc., etc. Keep in mind that the other offers should be from peer schools or higher. Good luck!

Re: Pitt c/o 2015
Thanks. I wrote a short letter, and they sent a very nice response saying they will re evaluate my award, and to provide them with info on scholarships elsewhere. Everyone I have interacted with from Pitt has been really helpful and nice, makes me want to go even more. I'm happy with 8, but a little more help would make it a little easier. I'm waiting to hear back from PSU and Marquette about money, hopefully they both give me offers.drs36 wrote:Congrats on the scholly. I'm stoked about Pitt though. It is my top choice, already toured the school back in September. I'm touring PSU Monday, but Pitt is my top pick.
I got my scholarship offer about 1-2 weeks after a decision via email.

For those of you thinking about Pitt on scholly, it looks like they are continuing to try and lower their median. In the past, their median was fairly high, so a 3.0 stip was fairly generous. Its becoming less so. Ill post some numbers later.

Are you in-state? I have similar numbers so I'm trying to get a ballpark of what scholarship offer to expectIncubateus wrote:12k/year. Got it in the mail today

Re: Pitt c/o 2015
Heard back already from the director of financial aid. She gave me the same answer as Neeko and said they will put me in for reconsideration, although she told me that it might be until the end of April before I hear. I'm applying for the PI scholarship though, and have already done my FAFSA. I'm expecting to get some need-based stuff from schools, since I'm an independent and have no monies...

Looking at all of the grade distributions online it appears that 3.0 is median for 1L classes. Median goes up for upper level courses though.bport hopeful wrote:For those of you thinking about Pitt on scholly, it looks like they are continuing to try and lower their median. Re: Pitt c/o 2015
Hey guys,
I am in a tough spot. My numbers are 158 and 3.88. I have contacted the Director to ask for some sort of scholarship and was informed that since my lsat is a 158, I dont qualify. However, in that response I was never informed of being reconsidered for a scholly. Looking at some numbers on here, it seems that some people with 159 and a lower GPA are getting around 8k. Do you think it is worth emailing back and asking if I will be reconsidered? Should I bring up my substantially higher GPA? Pitt is a top choice of mine and I would just love some money to make this choice that much easier. Thanks for any insight.

I know this is tough to hear, but I think that youre out of luck. It sounds like they already gave you an answer, and as it is, LSAT is king, and bringing up the numbers you heard on an internet forum isnt going to do you a lot of good.Kage3212 wrote:Hey guys,

So I sent in my app in early Jan and it is still marked recieved (1/11). Anybody else in the same boat? Its not like my numbers are low either, they're actually around median for both (160/3.2).

My status has been 'application received' since 1/14, but everything i've read on this thread indicates that pitt admissions takes forever

Do any of you plan on going to Pitt without any scholarship money? Just curious...
And can anybody tell me more about the endowment process? Thanks for the help in advance!

Assuming you're in-state, Pitt's tuition is ~$27,000 and Temple is ~19,000. I think they are pretty comparable schools, so without any scholarship money I'd probably go to Temple

I'm not going ANYWHERE without scholarship money. Unless by a stroke of some incredible luck OSU decides to let me in, that's my only exception (and I'm in state for OH)buddyboss32 wrote:Do any of you plan on going to Pitt without any scholarship money? Just curious...

Re: Pitt c/o 2015
This may have been discussed earlier. But my status has read "application received" for 3 weeks. Does the Pitt status checker go from this status to "complete" or is it one of the checkers that doesn't show much movement? Thanks.
