Mine changed to today as well. I hope that doesn't mean I'll be rejected next week.

Got WL'd today. I've already withdrawn my app. Good luck to those that haven't heard back, and congrats to those that got in!

I could definitely be wrong, and hopefully I am because I hope more people get admitted today, but I think all of the decisions have gone out for the day. In the past releases, all have gone out at the same time (rejections and WL earlier, and then admits)wightjm wrote:RunwayRed wrote:me, and it happened just now. FWIW, I think when I got admitted a couple of weeks ago, my status checker updated at like 2 or 3 and then I got the email at 5:45 with the welcome note and scholarship info
good luck to those still waiting!

They deduct $300 from your first deposit fee if you attend an ASW, I believe

I wish Dean Shively could tell us if anything else is coming out today so I can actually be a functioning member of society today. Good luck to everyone who is holding on.

Re: Wake Forest 2012
I got an email this morning informing me that my application "has been selected for special consideration by the admissions committee". My status checker changed to today's date and now says "special committee consideration". I can't figure out if this is good or bad news, the email says it is a positive step for my application, but it could delay a decision Until later in the process. Does any one have any thoughts on this...?

Re: Wake Forest 2012
Hey guys I logged on to my LSN account today and found this message. To current students would you say this is an accurate representation of the area?
I was a 1L at wake last year, currently I am a 2L at Notre Dame. You are free and capable of making your own decisions but I want to tell you about my time in Wake Forest and Winston Salem. Wake is a decent school. Winston Salem, however, is one of the worst cities that I have ever lived in. I was the victim of crime 2 times within the first 2 months that I lived there. I had my house broken into and my car broken into. That wasn’t the end of it though, 5 months after that I had my car vandalized by some kids. Some of the areas surrounding the campus are unsafe and there is a huge crime problem in Winston Salem. Here’s evidence, the nickname a lot of people in Winston Salem use for their city is “the tre-fo” meaning 34. When I learned what this nickname meant, I was disgusted. It stands for the first two digits of inmate #’s in the department of corrections (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tre-fo). I would consider you to think about this before you make your decision.

Re: Wake Forest 2012
I find it interesting that whoever wrote this fails to mention that his or her current location South Bend is also horrible. I did my undergrad at Notre Dame and I can't even count how many of us had our car windows smashed. I also had two different sets of friends who were abducted and thrown into the trunk of a car by townies and driven around for a joy ride not to mention my girl friend coming downstairs in her house to find a dude stealing everyone's laptops after smashing in a window by the back door. Oh yeah and those multiple shootings...the point is plenty of good schools are in or near shady areas. Just be aware. I never had any problems because I never left anything valuable in my car or walked around town alone and made sure I lived somewhere safe.jabberwock12 wrote:Hey guys I logged on to my LSN account today and found this message. Re: Wake Forest 2012
Um... I have spent a lot of time in Winston and I have never felt unsafe. There are areas to avoid sure, but every city has those. Sounds like this cat didn't do any research, and chose a house in the worst part of town in a stupid attempt to save $100 a month. Either that, or they are lying.jabberwock12 wrote:Hey guys I logged on to my LSN account today and found this message. Re: Wake Forest 2012
i didnt attend wake but grew up in w/s and there are some shady places around but ive never felt unsafe, however the part about tre fo is true, sounds like bad luck or not doing your homework to be a victim 3 times
