Emory c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)

Post by AntipodeanPhil » Thu Oct 13, 2011 3:33 pm

Last year's thread:

http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=133286

Last year's LSN data:

http://emory.lawschoolnumbers.com/applicants/1011

If they follow the same timeline as last year, we'll be waiting until at least the end of January for decisions.

It looks like there is no status checker - there wasn't one last year, and there is no link on the website.

Unless you know for a fact you're destined to land the big elephant (Alston & Bird/King & Spalding), I don't see any point in waiting. The tuition is too damn high.

Is it really that bad? Emory is still the highest ranked law school in Atlanta, and Georgia. Would it be worth it if Emory offered $$?

Are there any current Emory students out there willing to comment on employment prospects?

Ouch! I just came across some reports on this thread which seem to support your claim:

Ouch! I just came across some reports on this thread which seem to support your claim:
I agree. And other regional markets (eg Florida) are far overcrowded.

FWIW I applied the first day I could. Not even an email since.

Since the "Application Received" email, I haven't got anything either.

If they follow the same timeline as last year, they'll send out "Application Complete" emails in batches in November.

I got the "Application Complete" email today. As suspected, there was no mention of a status checker.

The email said this about the timeline:
You will be notified of a decision beginning in mid-February through April 2012.
Of course, schools often say that sort of thing and then make decisions sooner. They sent the "Application Complete" email a few weeks earlier this year, so perhaps they'll make decisions earlier!

Hey guys! Also will be applying to Emory. Even with the recent rank tankings, I still think it's a good school so we'll see how this turns out!

App sent 10/24. Can't believe they don't have an online status checker or something of that sort. They're asking for a lot of calls and emails from antsy students.

Depends upon how "decent/good jobs" is defined. May be wiser to think in terms of top 25% or top 20%.

Applied earlier in the week. 3.22/166. Fingers crossed -- my in-laws are in Atlanta and it would be nice to be close to family.

how do you guys think emory cycle will turn out this year? before it was pretty much given that a 166 would secure you a spot (at least according to LSN) but it seems like with the new medians, emory might be more GPA centered this year. Hoping the 166 rule still applies though : <

Does anyone have any idea when 2013 US news rankings will be out? I hope Emory will rise a little bit... kinda sucks it went -10 in one year

I wish Emory didn't take so long to release decisions.

I'll be in Atlanta over Christmas visiting my girlfriend's family and it'd be nice to know whether or not I need to check out the school.

April. I believe they were leaked on April 13 last year, but the date varies a bit from year to year.

Also, I think Emory only went -8 last year (although -10 over two years). I just hope the employment situation gets a little better in Atlanta.

Submitted 11/17. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that UGA had better inroads in Atlanta than Emory.
