You should come to the admitted students' reception next Friday in Columbia, if you can. You'll have a chance to meet more prospective classmates and current students, as well as several professors.
Glad to hear tonight went well for you.

I would go but I have a wedding to go to next Friday (and I'm the best man). I will schedule a visit sometime early next month, however, to get a good look at the law school and the other students and professors there as well.Ford Prefect wrote:You should come to the admitted students' reception next Friday in Columbia, if you can. That's understandable. If you have any questions about the school, don't hesitate to ask. I'll try checking in here more often than I have been.lakerinstl wrote:I would go but I have a wedding to go to next Friday (and I'm the best man). I'd say you'd be making an excellent choice.
But I am hugely biased.

Hey everybody first time one here, so I just want to ask Why Missouri as opposed to SLU... Private school $$$ vs. Public or is there other reasons such as a more open job market and better connections from Mizzou Alums.
Im not stirring up Stuff here, just wondering

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
The difference in tuition is a big reason for why I am favoring Mizzou over SLU right now. When both schools are essentially the same in the rankings, and both are strong in the St. Louis market, I really see the tuition as a huge reason. Plus, ever since I've been admitted to Mizzou, they have been extra courteous in their willingness to help with whatever I need. They have been really welcoming.

I've had good relations with both so far. Gonna go to SLUs ASW, but as far as these two go right now, still favoring Mizzou by a bit because of $$.

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
SLU places better in the STL market than any other law school. Mizzou places better anywhere else in Missouri with UMKC being competition in KC. If you want to practice in Missouri, there's nothing like the Mizzou alumni network. Additionally, if you're interested in Missouri politics, being a Mizzou grad is really the only way to go.RaiderBlue17 wrote:Hey everybody first time one here, so I just want to ask Why Missouri as opposed to SLU... SLU is in STL, which is quite a bit different than Mizzou/Columbia. So, lifestyle may be of some issue for people. Additionally, if you're a Missouri resident, the in-state tuition at Mizzou is unbeatable unless you receive a strong scholarship from SLU.

Re: Missouri Class of 2015
Thank you all for your reply... I am a Knoxville TN native who just visited UTK today, I didn't attend the school for undergrad, and Im not YET sold on the legal market being as available in Knoxville/Nashville as in St. Louis.
SLU offered me 20K which makes it a wee bit cheaper than UTKs in-state rate (17K estimated)
I am going to SLU's ASW as well so I cant wait to see the city again, and all the ins and outs.
Cheers everybody on their scores and acceptances.

That's nice to see. How can these rankings fluctuate so much in so little time though?

Probably. Quite honestly, I think our rise had as much to do with us doing things differently (and better) as it had to do with other schools having to report more realistic job numbers. Ours haven't been super, but they were at least honest.
I can tell you right off that our student/teacher ratio is way down. Which is good. Our LSAT dropped a point, but our GPA went up (.06?).

I really feel like going there early and getting back to St. Louis for a wedding later. I don't think I'll have the time to do so. If you are going, let us know how it went.juicyj wrote:Anyone going to ASW on Friday?

Because of Mizzou's tournament game starting time, we'll be done at 3:30, if that helps you out.lakerinstl wrote:I really feel like going there early and getting back to St. Louis for a wedding later. Speaking of, if any of you plan on staying in Columbia to watch the game somewhere, I'm sure we can figure something out.

I need to see if I can reschedule this test...I'd rather watch the game with people that care.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
